Smudge, a calico, and her sister Saxaphone, a tabby, were such wonderful companions. When Sax was 14 I had to let her go, she had mouth cancer. When Smudge was 15, I had to let her go, she had pancreatic cancer. Sax I held while she died, Smudge I gave to the tender care of an amazing vet and his staff.

It is almost a year now without my beloved cats. I so miss them. Today I give myself time to cry and remember. I am so thankful for what they brought to me. What we shared.

The love for our pets, and the love they give in return (I don't care if some scientists claim animals don't "love")
in my heart, they do love, and are so very special.
I have times that even though many years have passed since I had to say goodbye to my dogs due to their old age and/or fatal disease, that I still get days I weep and long for them. I think this is normal for anyone who was "owned" by their pets. I wish I had something of value to say to you, too bring comfort but I can't seem to put it into words.
Do know, I feel for you as well as our pet lovers here, so the best I can do is send some:

(((((((((((((((( Sarah )))))))))))))

Sincerely,
DE

Thank you all, for being here with me, for understanding.

Tis true, our beloved animals own us in a very real sense. And perhaps they never really completely leave us.

Better to have loved some felines, than to have never loved any at all.

Hello. I too have lost 4 beloved cats. It is indescribable agony. I believe, personally, that we will be reunited with them when we pass over to the other side. That faith ...that belief...keeps me going

I am so sorry for your loss!.

Losing a pet is very hard. They are like family members. I have always liked this...

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
