help i don't know how or what to say or do when you find out someone is dying? how and what do i say to my godfather/uncle. he knows he is dying, he just found out, 3 weeks ago he called to tell me he was on his last chemo and everything looked great! and now i get a letter from my aunt saying they found cancer in his glands, it has spread and is now considered untreatable. what do i do? how and what do i say to him? i love him sooooooo much!!

this same thing happened with my father in may. they thought it was all well after surgery, radiation and chemo...then they found it had spread. he was gone from me quickly.

I'm so sorry to hear about this. I haven't been through anything like it, and I can't imagine how difficult it must be. I don't have any advice, but you and your Godfather are in my thoughts and prayers.

i believe that i would tell him how i feel about him. i would tell him that i love him and i will miss him. i'd also tell him how lucky i feel to have had him in my life.......xoxoxo pat

thank you guys for noticing me, it really does help just to hear kind words. my aunt said we have to give him a few days to let it sink in, he hasn't told his 3 young children yet, or his wife. but i bought him a card, should i send it now or wait? should i write anything or just sign it?
Kimmydawn............how did you talk to your dad without it seeming like it was just because he was dying?

a nice card would cheer him up. something saying "thinking of you".......???

hi tiny....I think when it is time for you to talk to him tell him all the things you want to say to him to let him know how you feel. let him know you are there for him to talk to when he feels he can't talk to others. He may not open up to his wife and children about his feelings of his passing. Just love him and let him know. spend all the time with him you can between now and then. I am thinking of you during this very difficult time.

Since it's known... talk to him ABOUT it.... ask your questions, tell him how YOU feel about the whole thing... and talk about death, if you can. Most ppl who are facing death never get to work through their feelings because everyone is so busy tiptoeing around the subject! (((hugs)))))
