Hi all,

I don't really post or read here because I feel death is a private thing, but some of the other threads about favorite quotes made me remember that I have several that some may finding peaceful and comforting in a time of sadness... Some I've picked out from Kimberly Snow's 'Keys to the Open Gate', some come from 'The Bridge of Stars', which is basically a book of poems & prayers of all sorts.

The day of death is when two worlds meet with a kiss; this world going out, the future world coming in.
- Josef ben Abin

After death, we remain, our actions placed beside us in heaps.
- From an ancient Egyptian text, circa 2100 b.c.e.

From one darkness
Into another darkness
I soon must go.
Light the long way before me,
Moon on the mountain rim.
- Lady Izumi Shikibu

When I am dead, cry for me a little
Think of me sometimes, but not too much
Think of me now & again, as I was in life
At some moments it’s pleasant to recall, but not for long
Leave me in peace & I shall leave you in peace
And while you live, let your thoughts be with the living
Traditional Native American

The world is a bridge.
Pass over it.
Do not build your dwelling there.
- Inscription on the Great Mosque in Fatephur, Sikri, India

Will you drink to the Earth & the days that have passed upon Her? Will you drink to the fullness which was, & to the friends that have passed on? Will you drink to good company, well met?
- Stephen King, Wastelands

When we die, we’re going to change. The energy’s going to change. But it’s going to go on, ‘cos it’s the Life Force. We came from there. We feel that in ourselves. That energy is going to go on. It’s in the shell. The shell is not me. The shell doesn’t define me. It just holds me together for now.
- Ernesto Alvarado, from “Shamanic Wisdomkeepers”, by Timothy Freke

When we live, we live for ourselves. But when we die, we give to everything in the world.
W. Michael Gear & Kathleen O’Neal Gear, ‘People of the River’

And words of strength...
The heart that breaks open can contain the whole Universe.
- Joanna Macy
