He was a distant and silent father. I only saw him a handful of times over the years. We shared very little in common.

I was honored though, to be with him and to be holding his hand as he died. I was able to tell him that I loved him. That was a little more than a year ago.

It is Father's Day tomorrow and I am thinking of you Dad. I don't really know what it was like to have a Dad, but I am thinking of you all the same.

(((((Sabrina)))))

You are an amazing woman. I bet your father felt honored to have you with him as he died...his special daughter...a woman who has an unconditional love for many, including him. (I bet)

I know how very hard this must be for you. I lost my mom 2 years ago and it still rips my heart out everytime the holidays come around or when her birthday or Mother's Day rolls around.

My mom was much like your dad, except the fact that she was around. She wasn't emotional and actually seemed very distant emotionally. But she did love me...as I'm sure your dad loved you.

Although it may hurt right now, do what you think would make your dad proud, remember all his good points, and the bonding that you experienced with him. Years from now the pain will lessen and you will rejoice in remembering him (if not already).

Hang in there.

Sabrina,

I'm sorry this is a sad Father's Day for you.

My Father was distant and absent a lot also.

Hugs,

EJ

Rhapsody - My father

I understand..... for The next time I see my father it will probably be at his funeral, for he wants very little to do with his first family.... he left us (for the baby sitter) when I was but only one and he has never, or rarely, looked back.

Thank you to you all for your wonderful words.

I have written much more about my Dad's passing on EJ's thread "Dead Father's Club".

I am so very awed and grateful for you all - my friends!!
