My nephew died this morning. His heart failed. He was only 41.
He had an infection in his gums just a year ago that moved to his heart and led to three open heart surgeries.
He leaves two teenage children, a wife, and my very distraught sister.

Oh dear Ganesha, I'm so so sorry.

I've heard how infections in the mouth can affect other organs.

I hope his young ones have family members they can lean on for years to come. My heart is with you and all your family.

I know his short life from birth to death. He was a delightful child.
I keep thinking my sister.
I'm worried about her mental health. She's a person who will not let herself cry. Her main emotion is anger. She has refused to allow us to call her.

My prayers are with you & your family & especially with your sister who is having a very hard time with the grief she is going through. It is great that you are handling her so well. Everyone has their own way of dealing with their grief feelings & trying to force things on them is not what they need. It is good that you are giving her your support by letting her have time alone for the grieving she needs to do.

tonight my family is meeting to have dinner and tomorrow is the funeral.
Rituals are so important for the living and, who knows, maybe the dead as well?

Well, it's been little over a week.
Now comes the task of living with his death in a daily manner.
With everyone, except one person, having gone home, all the sharing over and now comes the day to day living. This is the part where we ride the waves, though they can become gentled to the point of a ripple, till the end of our lives.

Who was it said that we don't get out of here alive?!!
Why is this movie/life so convincingly seamless till some-one of us drops out?
Then we see our lives for the tenuous contract it is.

Holding my concrete reality is like holding a moon beam because life is that impossibly delicate.

Sorry, I missed this, and this may late, but I'm so sorry to hear this, it's so sad for him and his family, I'm sure.
It is never easy losing a loved one, I still miss my dad and always will, but as time passes one can function a little better as the years pass.
Since his passing, I've never been the same person I was before 9/11 and dad's passing in 2002.
Sadly, death changes a person, reality becomes more of a reality.
What you wrote here is so true.
