I was talking to my mom earlier today and she was telling me that she and my dad are going to see my Great Grandma B this weekend because mom has the weekend off, and I guess that Grandma B hasn't been able to sleep laying down for a while so she is sleeping in a chair. My grandma, dad's mom, Grandma B's daughter told my mom that she thinks that one day Grandma is just going to keep on sleeping peacefully. I am not ready for this. Just the thought makes me cry. When I was 4 Grandma B took care of me at least until I started school..... I don;t know what to do, just the thought has got me in tears. How am I going to handle it if she does pass. I mean she is 93, but still she was such a big part of my early life.

I guess I just need someone to tell because I don't know who else to tell.

Thanks for the ear, and if you have any ideas, please let me know.

Thanks much
Dar

Dar, I don't have any ideas, but wanted to offer ((((((hugs))))). One of my closest friends died a little over a year ago, and although I knew it was coming, it was still very, very hard. I don't know of any way to get around that, unfortunately. not yet, but i fear soon

Please take care and PM if you need to talk.

not yet, but i fear soon

Can you go to grandma and tell her how you feel about her and maybe remember the funny or naughty things you did. Like my six year old has an invisable friend who writes on furniture, walls, floors. Did you do that? Share her life with her. When was she born, where, who were her parents and siblings, marriage, children, work? My worst fear is my work here on earth will be forgotten when I go. I want to be remembered and treasured still. Good luck.

I agree with ww, try to contact her, if you can't go see her. Tell her what you told us, and more about the good times. Holding it in doesn't do much for you... not yet, but i fear soon share with the one who can help you get through this. Don't be afraid to talk about death and dying, I guarantee it's fresh on her mind. So many relatives avoid the topic, and the person agonizes with it all by themself, not wanting to sound morbid to those who will be left behind.
