I know way too many people who have committed suicides.

Suicide is a terrible way to lose loved ones. You have my condolences. Take care of yourself.

Hi Calico,
I'm really sorry for your losses ![]() And I know that losing people that way can be incredibly tough.........with lots of unanswered questions ![]() But you need to give yourself time to grieve in your own way, this latest loss may even have triggered further grieving over your past losses too. For now, try to let out some of those feelings........by reflecting, listening to/watching things significant to you, writing things down, talking to someone, talking to us...........whatever feels right to you, when you're ready ![]() But remember this happened only a very short time ago, in times things can get better. It may not feel like it now, or for a while, but maybe it can offer you some hope "in the darkness" ![]() And until then........we're here for you if you want to talk more.......... ![]() Alison |

I am a survivor of suicide. My dad died by suicide in January of 2015. The grief that accompanies a death such as this is complex and definitely does not follow any "grief rules".

I too have experienced a few too many lost friends to suicide and really feel your pain. It hurts like nothing else in this world. You will never understand it. Only thing that will bring you comfort is to understand they made the right decision at the time. Nothing can change it it now. Though as it seems. I get it.

Today, 26 years ago, I lost my brother to suicide. It's been an emotional day. I know he's in a better place but it still hurts. Somehow, more now than when it happened. Hugs to others who have lost someone dear.

And, for some reason, I feel guilty about little things regarding my brother. Like, I should have included him in a more visible role in my wedding. I married in 1990 and he took his life 6 weeks later. I know realistically that it wasn't this reason, but I feel awful still...

It is important to never go down the road of blaming yourself for a loved one's decision. I say this knowing that I struggle with the same thing in regard to my dad. The horrible thing is that my sister actually looked at me once and point blank said it was my fault just to be mean. I have really struggled with it since then even though I know she was going through her own mourning and doesn't have her mental health in order. Hugs.
