They just lack the same sort of joliness. My grandmother loved holidays and went all out making them what they are. Mom tries to keep up. I feel awful that this year I didn't think of Grandma as much, as if she's slowly but surely leaving my mind and memories. I need to do something to refresh myself...pictures or stories. Something.

Too, getting older does some of that. I have pictures from the last Christmas my mother was alive, 1953, and it's odd just thinking about that. But then there were good Christmases growing up after then, good childhood memories of presents and snow, etc. which don't seem to be around anymore now that my father and stepmother are dead and my brothers and me scattered with grown children.
