I guess you never know what you have until it's gone...

So today we get to practice, and we're sitting in hallway like we always do. And Maggie tells us she needs to talk to us seriously. So we were all like ok ok, it's probably about our meet tomorrow.
"Cassidy's dad died today, it was an accident. That's why she's not at practice."
...Now, let me tell you a few things about Cass.
Since about 2nd grade or so, she was my best friend. In fact just the other day I was looking back at some old LJ's and xanga's I had, and hers too. Almost all of my entries had her in them, cause you know we were best friends. We would go over each others houses just about every weekend, at the least. I saw her dad quite a bit, and our families were close. We stopped being best friends probably last year. I don't know why, but we just stopped talking.
But when I heard the words coming out of Maggie's mouth, I just froze and I didn't know if I was dreaming, or what.
I hope this is a dream. I hope I wake up soon and go to school, and none of this happened.
I am probably the one person on the team that knows knew Cassidy's dad the best, just because I used to see him a lot when we were best friends.
I'm just about having a mental breakdown right now.
When everyone went up to the locker rooms to change, Maggie was hugging me for like 5 minutes.
And then again when we were swimming. I got out, cause I just couldn't do it, also my heart is still killing me.
Sara's coming to my house on Wednesday.
I should be the most excited person in the world right now, but I just can't be.
