Hi, not been here for a while.

You may recall my previous threads about her failing health. She passed on 3 February this year. Funeral took place exactly 1 month after. We gave her a good send off.

My brother and I had already started clearing her house. Pleased to say it's now sold, so pressure has eased. Thankfully, no-one has tried to tell me how I should be feeling....

Yes, there are moments when I expect the phone to ring and be given an ear-bending. Have been busying myself with jobs that had been put to one side, like cleaning/tidying my house.

Just an update as want to post on another forum here.....

Thanks for updating us, I had wondered about you as you’d not posted in some time. I know you went through a lot with your mum and family dynamics, glad no one is telling you how you should feel.

Thanks everyone for your good wishes.

Yes, always been a difficult person but she was 89 so had a good innings, as we British say!

Relationship with my brother is far better than it used to be. Amongst Mom's passing, funeral and associated things to sort, he decided to move house. Well, my sister-in-law did, lol!

As you can appreciate, life has been hectic for the past 2 years+. Falls, discharge from hospital, assessment centre, care home. Huge learning curve! Difficult to let go of care to those specially trained when some of them shouldn't be in that job.

Time to move on. As executors we've kept on top of everything, just waiting for house sale to be finalised

Today would have been my Mother's 90th birthday.

Sad she didn't make it but given her failing health, would she have remembered anyway.

Observation by my aunt (her sister) other day. My brother is on holiday at moment so he would have missed it anyway as they booked before she passed. Advised my aunt that wasn't first time they'd done it, but not for a significant one.

The momentary silence from my aunt said more than actual words....

I've got a significant birthday soon. Already have ideas to avoid dreaded family celebration. Want to do my own thing and for once in my life, I will not bow to pressure
