I'm just finishing up the marvelous book "All In My Head, An Epic Quest to Cure an Unrelenting, Totally Unreasonable, and Only Slightly Enlightening Headache" by Paula Kamen. I highly recommend it for anyone who experiences any type of headache, chronic pain, chronic illness of any kind, and really just about anyone dealing with mental and/or physical health issues. It's that good.
The author has a great sense of humor, and her descriptions of her various visits to good and not so good health care folks is priceless. She journeys through both Western and alternative medicine. She writes about our society and how we view those in pain. The book is written memoir style and it doesn't at all extort us to do whatever to fix our whatever. We simply get to travel with her, and many readers may find like I did, we are given a sense of validation for our own experiences. Along with good ol' PTSD and anxiety, I have migraines and fibromyalgia. I read quite a bit, and it is a real treat to find such a right on book. Sarah

Who are "they"? I be confused.
I've read the Muscle Pain book by Backstrom, also good. I've been ill since about 1988, I read and research lots, both on fibromyalgia and cfids, since I have both. Plus the migraine fun. I also follow various newsletters and web sites from various groups. Lots of info out there, some helpful, some not.

Hi sarah. The book sounds great. I also have fibromyalgia and am having a really hard time with my pain. I am following up with a rheumatologist next week for possible lupus. I just need to figure out a way to get this pain under control. It definitely contributes to the depression and vice versa. Have you found any good help for your fibro? I'm interested in any input. Thanks
