For the past week or so I've been getting quite dizzy when standing up and feeling quite disorientated(well it's not really that just kinda like a lapse of memory of where i am). Also i've been quite forgetful.

Anybody have any ideas what this could be?

Maybe your sleepy or maybe not eating enough food to keep you going or also drinking nothing could make you feel dizzy as we need water to live. Can't go with out it for more than 3 days.

Sounds like orthostatic hypotension, but best to check in with a health care person first. Have them check you over, bp taken and all, see what they say.

"Orthostatic hypotension means that when you are standing ("static") upright ("ortho"), your blood pressure ("tension") falls ("hypo"), and causes you to become dizzy or even pass out. There are several causes for this, including not taking enough fluids and salts, some medications (for example, the tricyclic antidepressants and the anti-hypertensives, of course), and some hormonal problems."

well if your feeling dizzy and then your headhurts really bad, that's a migrane, you van also not see, go blind for about 10 seconds or so, then once you can see again, your head hurts, thats a migrane. but anything else, I'm not sure. Sorry.

Poor nutrition can cause this also. Especially lack of potassium. (I know if I eat salty foods, it depletes my potassium... yadda yadda yadda)
Try eating some bananas and see if it stops happening.

I forget if you are on meds or not. If so any changes recently? Or could it be time to check in with the doc about changing them?

If you are non meds then the bloodpressure thing and _Sky's idea about the kinds of foods being eaten having an effect on things are good ideas to consider.

Please get checked out if it has been a while since your last exam.

I use to get that when I was dieting and lost too much weight which caused my blood pressure to be much too low, but then high blood pressure can make a person feel that way.
My doc also told me if a person is slightly dehydrated that could happen too. Low or high blood sugar can make that happen, so many things can be possible.
To play it safe, see your doc. maybe it is anxiety, and/or some other physical condition, but please have it checked.
I know what you mentioned is scary. Another thing I forgot, have you checked your meds (if you take any I do not know) if they have side effects like that? Check that out too.
Diuretics, blood pressure meds, AD's, and if a diabetic, insulin dose may be too high or low.
Oh, I know, just so many things today that can cause this sensation Dizziness and forgetting..
Please take care now,

DE

I hope more fluid intake helps, if not please see your doc just to rule out anything that may be serious.

Take care now,
