This morning, I thought I'd slept wrong because my back was killing me down where the vertebrae are that are deteriorating. As the day has worn on, though, the pain has traveled to my left side. Now I'm thinking it's my kidney. Anyone out there that has had kidney trouble... what does it feel like? What are other symptoms? My ankles have been swelling the last couple of days and urine is really dark; so far today, none. I was thinking maybe it is the lack of water pills? I've run out and no insurance yet. Any comments or advice?

Hon you got some kidney problems there. I would get to a doc quick. I know you dont have insurance but this is an emergency. If my mind serves me correctly, it could be the start of ESRD End Stage Renal Disease. Mom had this and its not to be messed with. I hope and pray that I am wrong but I am just going by what my mom went thru.

My dear woman, "lack of water pills"??? You answered it right there, I think. Calll your doctor and see what you can do about getting back on them! Do you drink caffeinated products? That may help in the meantime because caffeine is a diuretic.

By the way, many generic water pills are extremely cheap! You should be able to get something, if not even samples from the doctor.

Erin, I take them for high blood pressure, not for not being able to go pee. LOL But come to think of it, the doc told me I had something wrong with my kidneys... they put out too much salt??
If the pain gets any worse, I'm gonna go to the hospital. Does kidney pain go down your leg and through to your lower abdomen... and it kinda makes you sick to your stomach?  Doesn't sound good, does it? wwwwaaaaaaThanks everybody else for responding. If I don't post tomorrow, you'll know where I am. I'm a tough old broad so don't worry about me, ok?

Yeah, you're right!
Made it through the night pretty darn good, though. Hubby made me take some Tylenol PM, probably because he didn't want to be bothered during the night, LOL, and I washed it down with a Coke (for the caffeine). The pain started going away almost immediately so I was able to get comfortable. Slept pretty good the first 3 or 4 hours and then I was up every 2 hrs going to the bathroom! Something broke lose!  LOL I'm just kinda sore this morning but guess what?? I can see the bones in my ankles! WoooooHooooooo! I've probably lost a few pounds, too.  Yes! Yes! I'm gonna get myself into a doctor sometime today.
