Hi
I have suffered from Allergic Rhinitis ("Hay Fever"), Chronic Sinusitis and a deviated septum for most of my life. It runs in my family. I also have lots of furry and feathery pets which I often have close contact with. Finally, the pollen count in my particular area is VERY high right now (mostly ragweed, chenopods and grass). For years and years, I have run intermittent low-grade fevers that go from 97.4 to as high as 99.6 and once it went all the way up to 100.0. During periods where I am feeling a little "under the weather", I will sometimes take my temp and it is 99+. I have had many tests over the years, asked many doctors about this and done a lot of research on my own and the only thing I can think of is that perhaps my little fevers are allergy-induced. In fact, I had a doctor tell me that he suspected this once. Does anyone else here get intermittent low-grade fevers when the pollen count is high or when your allergies are really bad?. Oh, I also sneeze a few times a day, my nose clogs up or drips a lot, my eyes water, nose itches, upper teeth ache sometimes and once in awhile, I blow my nose and a HUGE ball of mucous comes out (sorry, gross I know). I'm just looking for some input from fellow alergy sufferers and appreciate any help I can get. - Regards, GreyGoose |

Hi. Yes this used to happen to me frequently.I now use Flonase Nasal spray twice per day and Allegra D morning and before bed. Drinking more water will help you as well.
Take good care. ~Dottie

Thank's for the replies. Do you all get low-grade fevers along with your other symptoms?

Hi there, I want to ask, "has a sinus infection been ruled out"? Your description of things, reminds me so much of the times I suffered chronically with them, even causing teeth/jaw aching. I too have had septum problems and more, yeah I'm sure most genteic. Just had nasal surgery in July, still on the mend, and will be for a while. But I have over the years get times where I'll get a low grade temp for no reason (that I could pinpoint) and my gp has said it can be related to the body reacting to allergens, but not proven.
It makes sense to me. ![]() It's early right now, but my nasal/septum reconstruction/repair surgery is helping already, no stuffiness like before ![]() ![]() Take care now, DE ((((((((((((( GreyGoose ))))))))))))))))

Allergies can cause ANYTHING and I mean ANYTHING. . . heart attacks, strokes, brain swelling, tinnitus, blurred vision, toe aches, spot on the body, you name it!

ok.. now a helpful reply??
![]() and also with inhalents... keep track. (I didn't say this was easy, but I've done it and so have millions of others) don't wear cologne/perfum nor do you use scented ANYTHING! Use a plain soap (or for hand washing, the waterless kind?) If you can use Eucerin or Aveeno, that's what my allergist had me go to and they're great. If you clean anything, wear a dust/allergen mask... don't vacuum (someone else should and you go away till it settles... I use a Kirby with special allergy proof bags) Use as plain a soap for washing your clothes and bed linens as possible... There's SO much to learn .. if you wish to. Like, if you find you are allergic to corn.. then you shouldn't use paper plates either as they are made from corn. And such things as, Jello is pork and Gelatin is Beef based. Did this help ? You can elimate as much as possible to begin with, and after several days or 2 weeks, begin slowly adding things back in - one at a time - until you get a reaction.. then take that item off/out again... till a few months when you can try it again and be sure. ??? TC good wishes

Allergies are your immune system's overblown reaction to something it thinks is harmful (whether it actually is or not), so many symptoms associated w/colds, flus & systemic illnesses can also be attributed to allergic reactions... Rheumatoid arthritis is an allergic inflammatory reaction, as are certain types of lupus, celiac disease, IBS, etc. & so forth.
(I actually 'gave up' & started getting immunotherapy - and I wish I'd done it when I first got my health insurance 4 years ago. I started the shots in February, and I've taken maybe 4 Benadryl in the past 7 months. Right now, here in Vegas, something is blooming - my husband & most of my coworkers are miserable, but I can breathe through my nose & my eyes & ears & throat don't itch and none of my joints feel like they're full of hot ground glass. It's been pretty enjoyable. I can even roll around in fresh cut grass & not itch afterwards!)
