Hi
For months, I would get these brief, low-intensity headaches on the left side of my head. They came and went throughout the day and seldom lasted more than a few seconds. None were very severe...just enough to give me a good scare and make me wonder what was going on. They also were not all that painful. Recently, I have begun to have right-sided headaches that come and go throughout the day. These new headaches are the same in duration and intensity as the left-sided headaches I USED to have. My "history"... * Allergic Rhinitis * Acute Sinusitis * Generalized Anxiety Disorder * Occassional panic attacks * Depression * Really BAD Hypochondria * I drink a few beers now and then * I smoke (just started a few months ago) * I take Lorazepam and Atarax For a long time I was obscessed with rabies because we have bats in our area and one flew over my head one day, caught a bug in it's wings and then flew off into the feild. I obcesed over this for months...every little tingle, twitch, ache, etc...I swore it was rabies!. Now recently, because of the headaches I have become obscessed with Menengitis (which rabies actually can cause!!) so I am double freaking out right now - even though I had the little headaches before the bat flew over my head. Also, I had a vertigo spell and suffered from slight dizziness and lightheadness for about a week (also can be a symptom of menengitis but also a LOT of other conditions) and when I talked to my mom, she said that her and my brother both suffer from this as well and that it is debilitating. Also, I had vertigo years ago and have experienced a lot of head shocks, dizziness and all kinds of other crazy symptoms for years so I just don't know what to think. I've had more tests over the years than I can even begin to think of and of course, everything is always "normal" so why do I always feel like complete crap and have all these weird symptoms?. HELP PLEASE!! |

How long has it been since you've had your jaw and bite evaluated? Do you happen to grind your teeth at night, do you know? Are you holding the phone on one shoulder, or leaning on your hand in thought much? These things can cause a misalignment to your bite, and give headaches. It can also cause vision problems, sinus troubles too. If you can, have your tmj's evaluated by a DMD or a DDS who specializes in TMD.

Hi _Sky!
HOLY COW!!!. Yes, as a matter of fact, I have TONS of teeth problems including grinding and most (if not all) of my teeth are worn down to the core. My teeth are VERY sensitive so I have to be very careful with what I eat and drink (sour, hot, cold food and drinks hurt a lot) and my teeth/jaw always hurt. I also lean on my elbow while at the computer and have both carpal/ulnar and median nerve damage and numb fingers. I also had a C-Spine MRI that showed that the disks in my neck were ruptured and leaking fluid and also there was nerve impingement. I'm a mess and I think you hit the nail right on the head! - Regards, GreyGoose |

Hi Greygoose. I think seeing a Dentist is a very good idea as a place to start with.
I have to tell you though.....smoking will only make you feel worse. Folks who have allergies and sinus problems especially should not smoke. At least give this some thought ~Dottie.

My teeth also ache from time to time and I have had a metallic taste in my mouth for almost a year now.

I had to have all the amalgam fillings removed... but the metallic taste could be from a medicine you are taking.. put it on your list to ask about.

BINGO again!!. I have a mercury filling that the stupid dentist wanted to simply "patch over" rather than removing. Plus the idiot did a panaramic X-Ray which turned out to be totally unneccessary and cost me a small fortune. Greedy &@!&^*$

Sinus drainage & movement can cause one-sided headaches to come & go due to pressure changes in the sinus canals. As the canal fills up, if you change position, it will drain somewhere else, then that area fills up... mild decongestants might ease that feeling.
Also, in your ears are tiny crystalline structures that help determine your orientation in relation to your environment. A friend of mine had one break off & she was dizzy & had trouble staying upright until they were able to go in & remove it - the disorientation caused odd headaches for her, too.
