I have surgery for my left ear on the 29th and this morning I woke up in a panic about it. Why? I have no clue. I have had my share of surgeries and I never panic - well - not until they actually take me to the operating room then some panic sets in. I am not sure where this panic came form this morning.

I put my headset on and listened to some music and that helped. Now I am needing to know why why why?

Thanks for listening

Hi. I am wondering if you are afraid of "being put under" via the anesthesia. Just a thought?

Thanks Dottie and Ozzie - both sound like they could be part of the panic.

I'll be sending some good thoughts your way on the 29th. Good luck. I hope that you get to the bottom of what is causing the panic.

Take care of you =)

Hi there,
I think this is very normal, even if we have had surgery in the past, we still feel nervous/panicky, we will worry about how we come out of surgery, the healing, long term progress, and just the whole thing.
I have had surgeries in the past, and 3 surgeries this year, one for my ear, with no anesthesia, the 2nd growth removal on back, just novacaine, but the 3rd was major internal/nasal surgery, where I was knocked out for 2-3 hours. This was the one that worried me, between being knocked out, surgery and then this long healing process, 6 months to one yr for total.
I'm sure you'll do fine, just keep convincing yourself that, and if you have been prescribed anti-anxiety meds. use them, as prescribed, of course. Surgery
You'll be in my thoughts. Surgery
Lots of luck,
DE

PS
Let us know how all goes, okay?
