i just had my first surgery ever. i was in so much pain for about a week and they finally figured out what was wrong. i had a 5 by 7cm absest in my rectum....OUCH! i had to get it drained. i was in the hospital for 17 hours all together. they gave me alot of morphine, and they put me under when they did the procedure. when i woke my body went into shock. everything worked out fine and im recovering now. but i cant do anything...i have to just lay here. im starting to get really down...but i dont know if it has to do with what my body has just been through or because im stuck here...i dont know. but i havent been that depressed lately and now its really getting to me surgery

hi damajdancer,
i just had surgery too on friday and its the first since i got my tonsils out when i was like 5 or something. i was in for 24 hours and they gave me the morphine and put me under too. could have used a bit more morphine and actually wouldnt say no to some right now cos im in a bit of pain! my body went into shock after too though everything was fine.
ive been quite down this week too and im not sure if its an after surgery thing or from lying on my parents couch from saturday to tuesday but things look a little more positive today. maybe it is just our bodies chemicals reacting to the beating they ve taken recently? hang in there and time will tell. just wanted to let you know it was weird you posting this this week and i relate. surgery
get well soon!

I believe it is an after surgery effect of the drugs, of the stress on the body, of the anesthesia, of the upset in your routine, etc.

Additionally, one always feels way more fragile when healing from surgery.

Hang in there you two! I promise you will feel better as you mend!
Take care,
Okie
