Hi! I just started practiceing yoga for the last couple of months and it has been so wonderful. Normally I would think it was too weird. But I went in with an open mind, and found it to be very mentally and physically relaxing. It is helping me cope better with stress. After my first class, I was so relaxed, I came home and took a 3 hour nap, and I don't normally nap during the day. Try it, you might like it!

yes, I totally agree... yoga seems to have a nice way of relaxing and "coming to terms" w/ one's body in a non-strenous way (well yes the exercises can be so but I mean you're less likely to focus on "looking buff" etc...) it's more about relaxing, being calmn, flexible etc... but my question is what is the difference btwn yoga & pilates? I know they're different, I've done both but I still don't "really" get it.... which one is better for overall strength?

I love yoga... I agree... I am not sure I would have gotten through my divorce in one piece without it.

I would say pilates is focus mainly on the "core" muscles like abs, butt and back, and yoga is all over but pilates came from yoga so they are simular.
At my health club they offer yogalates which is a combination of both! LOL |

I am overweight too, but I still can do the poses. Usually a good teacher will work with what ever the issues you have, injuries, age, weight, whatever. In my yoga class the room is only dimly lit, so everyone can't see my big butt! LOL

WOW< I might be going through a divorse soon, maybe it is good I am practicing yoga. All I know is that it is the best thing I have done for myself in a long time.
