Today I'm much better in term of anxiety, but last night it was horrible!

Last night I visited a breast cancer site and then later while in the shower I decided to examine my breasts. I found a lump! I was so scared I took 2 mg of my Mom's Ativan to calm down. My alarm didn't go off and I missed two of my classes today.

I went to a walk-in-clinic. The doctor said it was a cyst half a centimeter in diameter. She ordered ultrasound tests. I have those in Jan 26.

I also made an appointment with my family doctor for tomorrow.

Anyways, I"m scared out of my mind and don't know how I'm going to be able to study.

There is no history of breast cancer in my family. I just turned 24 a about a month ago.

I'm scared!

At least it's not very long until the ultrasound.

It's probably not cancerous anyway, most of them aren't I found a lump in my breast

Thanks for understanding my fear and anxiety Zorah.

((((((((Zorah))))))))))

I'm a normally fearful and anxious person and this is causing my anxiety to go through the roof. I'm thinking of dying will be like and I can't concentrate on studying.

I just wish the ultrasound was sooner. I have to endure more than 2 weeks of this horrible anxiety. I wish I had some anxiety meds.

It's VERY common to get cysts! I'm sure that's what it is, best of luck anyhow. Add to the fact that it's VERY rare for young women to have breast cancer.

Still...I'm scared

I wish I would just forget about this whole thing whenever I wanted...at least to get in some studying.

If I do have cancer, it's weird, because I feel totally healthy. I don't even have colds. It's hard to imagine how I can go this my state now to dying.

You're right SpazKatt...

One step at a time...
One step at a time...

I think it was a good sign that the doctor didn't seem concerned. She told me she was going to say it was a cyst.

I'm going to see another doctor tomorrow.

I hope I can study.

Hi greenleaves, is this your first shakedown cruise with the oh my god I'm gonna die thing? I agree with everybody that it is likely not the big C, but, whether it is or not, this is a good time to do some soul searching about what is important to you, what your personal priorities and beliefs really are.......
Plus, being diagnosed with cancer is not a death sentence. Go ahead and take a deep breath on that one, ok? Welcome to mortality, it's part of growing up! On the other hand, waiting for results sucks so big time it's not funny. Hang in there, do nice things for yourself. It's a good habit to get into regardless.

{{{{Greenleaves}}}}

I hope your doctors appointment goes ok today.

Try not to worry too much about this. I found a lump a few years ago and it turned out to just be a cyst.

I understand your fear though. I was scared too.

She said that she found 2 other lumps in the other breast and that the lumps are fibrocystic changes or fibroadenomas, both of which are benign conditions. She said they are related to changes in hormones.

I'm still going to get an ultrasound on Thurs to be certain.

I just found out that the lump is benign.

I found 2 other lumps in the other breast and I'm going to get an ultrasound for those too.

Glad you are following up with this, and of course also glad it's benign.

Take care,

I had an ultrasound of my left breast because I thought I felt two lumps. I got the results back today. There were no lumps to be found. I guess what I felt were my ribs or something.

Now, I'm a little worried still about the other lump, the one that the radiologist says is most likely a benign fibroadenoma... Should I get more tests for it? No ultrasound is 100% certain.

My GP told me to see her again after 4 months to do another ultrasound. I dunno, I just get worried.

Hmm you could take the results to another place with a radiologist and ask for a second opinion. Or ask for the same one to reevaluate it (sometimes they are so busy, they skirt the issue duh!) This is always a scarey concern, imo. Have the lump biopsied and be sure, is what I'd do.

I'm going to ask about that biopsy thing. I hate having a strange lump.

I'm getting pretty scared about my lump again. The radiologist write it off as a fibroadenoma and my GP told me to wait 4 months to get it checked again, but I'm still scared. I've been reading a lot of scary stories.

Does anyone know how often radiologists get it wrong? I don't care what my doctor told me, I'm going to see her again. I'm scared. Now I wish I'd asked for a biopsy sooner. Will she even agree for me to have a biopsy? How fast does cancer grow?
