Hi,

Well, I have surgery scheduled for Monday, and yesterday I caught a cold.



It has taken me two days to get some sort of answer about whether the surgery can still take place and the answer is....maybe!

I guess as long as I don't run a fever and the cold doesn't get worse, the surgery can probably happen on MOnday, even with a cold. But I just wish I hadn't caught a cold. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Bad timing.

The past few weeks have been so stressful. Nuts.

Shyt....as long as you do not have a high fever they will do it but man you have had so much on you way TOO much...I pray this goes away fast...rest a lot and drink tons of water......maybe its allergies?

Erinbear! By Monday if it is a bug you should have hit the peak by then. They will check you out prior too surgery to make sure your feeling well. Like Sleeps said, lotsa rest and fluids!

(((hugs))) maybe the added stress of the surgery is what "caused" your tolerances to be low enough to "catch" the cold! Drink plenty of water, wash your hands often... rest rest rest! Let your body get all the strength it can for fighting off infection ... and recovering from surgery Monday! (Think positively!)

I had a cold this fall when I had outpatient surgery. I asked if it would be a problem and was told it wouldn't (which was weird because I got moved up a week because the lady that week was sick - wait...I think she had bronchitis (sp?)).

I think a cold is ok...as long as it's not the flu or something more serious.

Hi ErinBear,

I know the feeling. I've had a few dozen surgeries in my life, and some of had to be delayed for medical reasons, some of which were just the presence of bad cold symptoms or flu symptoms.

It really is bad timing, you generally want to get the surgery and recuperation (sp?) over and done with ASAP.

Here's to hoping that you can have the surgery tomorrow.

Thanks to everyone for all of the good thoughts. I was pretty sick over the weekend (102 degree fever) and was still sick Monday morning (100 degree fever). They decided to do the surgery anyway, but with a change. They did it with me awake, with a sedative and a local, which was a really scary idea to me! Ick! But I thought it was better to just get it done anyway, so we did. I am in a whole lot of pain but at least it is over. They also did more surgery than they originally planned so it is pretty....well....owie down there.

The other bad news is that my computer died on Friday night. So I don't have any contact with my online friends and it sure feels awkward! I really am particuarly missing my online contacts right now, while I'm recovering. What an awkward time for it to break down. I am able to use a friend's computer for a few minutes now, but I don't know when I will be able to do so again.

Anyway, thanks to everyone for your good thoughts. I know it helped on Monday!

Hopefully I will just keep getting better bit by bit now. I see the surgeon again on Monday and he should have the pathology results then. I hope the results will be benign.

Thank you Sleeps - I appreciate it. The recovery process this time has been really hard. I am just so ready for something to go *well* for a change. (sigh)

Thank you so much - I appreciate both prayers and positive thoughts. Today is my post-op visit and I should get the pathology report. So it feels a little nervous here and I just hope everything will turn out okay. This sure has been a long week here. I hope things start improving soon.

LOL! Thanks for the great message! I wish, i wish, I wish! LOL! Actually I went for a few days with no pain medication - not fun - but we got that sorted out now. Goodness. Maybe it was your good wishes that helped. I see the surgeon today for the followup visit. I just hope it will all start improving soon.
