My throat is always raw from acid reflux. It is worse now that I've started on an inhaler. I get blisters on the back of my throat from the acid. Does anyone know of anything that would help? Thanks

I use Ricola lemon and echinacea "cough" drops for my throat. I have also used a Chloroseptic spray which numbs the throato

For acid reflux, please try taking an herbal digestive enzyme capsule. My aspirations became more and more often and worse and worse, and not just of saliva anymore, but I can't eat 4 hours before bed. (This is a problem since I'm hypoglycemic and need something every 2 hours!) I only need to take a (vegetarian) digestive enzymes capsule every few days, and I have almost NO reflux nor aspirating!

I heard about it through the REAL AGE doctors, Dr Oz and the other guy lol

Tums works for - MY - acid problems and changing - MY - diet to a low acid producing diet such as cutting down on the spegetti sauces, tomatoes and other high acid producing things.

I have never heard of inhalers making more problems where acid reflux is concerned since it is not swollowed into the stomach where stomack acid is produced.

- MY - 13 year old has been on inhalers since he was 4 months old, he has never had any acid reflux problems. he did at one point get blisters in his mouth and throat.

the solution was that he was not using the inhaler correctly as in breathing in fast so the inhaler mist was settling in his mouth and throat instead of getting completely into his lungs. - MY - family physician gave us an attachment tube to go on the inhaler that way the albuterol, pulmicort and so on did not settle in his throat. Cleared up the throat and mouth blisters.

You might have thrush? A candida overgrowth/side effect of the inhaler. Call and talk to your doctor/medical provider. If it's thrush, you need meds to get rid of it, it won't clear up on its own. Read the paper that comes with your meds; you probably should rinse your mouth out after each time you use your inhaler.

Please go talk to your Dr. about this. Acidreflux of this kind can be very dangerous. You obviously need something to soothe your throat.

I wish you the best,

Jan

The problem with using Tums, Rolaids, Mylanta etc is that it destroys all acid.
In fact, it may compound the problem making it worse. ? does anyone know of anything that helps acid reflux?

You NEED some balance. Our bodies are geared to have digestive enzymes in the stomach.

One easy test to see if your remedy is causing a problem is when you are feeling indigestion, take a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, if it calms your stomach, then you don't have enough acid!

Part of the problem is that the esophagus regulates this ...if it doesn't, then the stomach problem moves up the pipe, so to speak. The digestive enzymes that our stomachs have normally, regulate the esophagus. If the enzymes aren't in balance, then the esophagus doesn't work correctly either. ? does anyone know of anything that helps acid reflux?

My MD is a homeopathic doctor also... and backs up what the medical doctors (that run the real age site) say... it's medical knowledge. I hope this will help you. (I'm not a medical doctor, nor do I play one on TV.)

diet change is essential. (reduce caffeine, chocolate, spicy foods, citrus, drinking quickly, etc.)

aciphex and zantac worked great for me. but i found that avoiding certain foods/drinks helped reduce my symptoms. (i'm totally against taking meds for the rest of my life, if i can avoid it.)

swallowing saliva helps keep the acid down. my hubby taught me that trick. a few times an hour, swallow saliva. saliva helps balance the ph in your stomach.

not wearing tight fitting pants helps.

drinking dill pickle juice helped a bit.

avoiding Cola drinks helped me, too.

sitting upright (at least a couple hours) after meals.

i'm sure there's a few more things i've done to help.

take care ((((((freewill)))))) acid reflux is a pain.

I find that Pepcid Complete works the best for me and works quickly too. The downside is that although they are supposed to be "flavored" they taste like nasty nasty chalk. It's worth the nasty taste though!
