I've had carpol tunnel in both wrists since high school (I'm 23). In August, I fell and a ganglion cyst emerged. It grew big and hurt. I wore my splint for 2 months and reduced in size and hurt less. A called a nurse and she said that they probably wouldn't do anything about it if I came in. A couple of weeks ago, I slipped in the ice and now it's grown a little and really hurts. Zipping up a dress, turning a stubborn door knob, or lifting a heavy bag causes pain. I wear the splint when I can, but it's hard to do my work with it (most of my work is on a computer). Is there anything I can do? Will a doctor help me?
Also, though I have some of the symptoms, ESP when I am stressed, I tested negatively for hyperthyroidism 2 years ago (though I was close to the edge). Could my bad tendons have anything to do with a higher thyroid level? I suffered from tendonititus in my hip and knee in high school too. Could this be a dietary thing? I'm broke and I don't want to see a doctor unless they can actually help me. Ive already spent so much money on thyroid blood tests, galbladder apointments (the cause was never determined), and Pdoc bills.

There are some options in how to deal with it that this info from the Mayo Clinic may be helpful:
Ganglion cyst Definition - Diseases and Conditions - Mayo Clinic I have had to have one removed that was so painful on my toe and one that is still not causing pain on my wrist, so am just waiting it out. My father had one surgically removed on his wrist and a friend just gets pain injections/meds for hers in her wrist. Another friend had an injection of an enzyme to dissolve it. Another friend treats it like he does his carpal tunnel with warm compresses and that seems to help beacuse it is pressing on the nerve that causes the pain. If your doc won't help with it, find one that will as there are options to help and to be more comfortable with it or remove it. I hope you find some relief soon and don't take no for an answer; you deserve the help you need! ![]()

I had one on my wrist that did, in time, resolve on its own. It did take a long time as I recall, but one day...or so it seems now, it was gone. (denial is a defense mechanism I find helpful at times...) I know I stopped wearing a watch, and did some other things to decrease stress on the wrist...can't remember what now...

I had a Ganglion cyst diagnosed on my wrist, when they operated I could tell there was something was not quite right (I was wide awake for the surgery), turned out it was a "Giant Cell Tumor" growing in the tendon sheath.
Either way, they should be able to remove it, though I don't remember how much the cost was for the surgery.
