Never had that done to me, but I did have a cyst done that way. They numb the area with a shot so I'm thinking it's a toss up as to what hurts worse, the shot to deaden the area, or the shot to aspirate!

Good luck, {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{Roe}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}

(((((((((( DE )))))))))

They numb the area with a xylocaine (sp?) shot. Then they insert a very tiny needle into the nodule and aspirate some tissue. There are multiple aspirations to make sure they get enough tissue to be a viable biopsy.

It's not very comfortable, but it's not the most painful thing either. PM me and I can give you more details.

Hugs,

Jan

((((((((( Thanks, Jan ))))))))
I have just a follow up with endo. today, then she will determine if I need one, I feel yes I should, just to rule out that these nodules aren't cancerous, I've been hearing too many horror stories amongst family and their friends of losing people to cancer due to docs telling them they are fine, no need to check things out with all the tests.
Grrrrrrrrrrr!

If I do not get any satisfaction, I just may book a flight to TX and see the famous, Dr. Ridha Arem, his book so much describes exactly what I'm dealing with.
At the present I'm starting to lose faith in some of the doctors I have seen as well as family members.
They are putting people's lives at risk, using the major cop outs, such as: "you are depressed" "you are stressed" and "you are menopausal", so easy for them to brush people off and tell them in a subtle way that the patient's problems are all in their heads!!! GRrrrrrrrrr!!
Well, we see what happens, but I refuse to go on another year being unwell, it's been too long. Do they hurt?
Thanks again,
Roe

If you can go see Dr. Arem, go! Take good care of yourself. I would much rather have the biopsies and have them be negative than to worry about it all the time.

Hugs,

Jan

I'm giving my present endo another try, she told me today the nodules aren't really enough centimeters in size for an adequate or even possible needle biopsy but before my next visit, early Sept., I should have my usual bloodwork done and another follow up ultrasound. She was very abrupt today and even borderline rude, she asked me questions and then spoke over me as I replied to her questions, any other symptoms I've been having she abrupty said are not related to my hypothyroidism, bah humbug, for I've been reading so much over the past couple of years, especially Dr Arem's book (it's like my Bible) and they say what I'm going through is part of the hypothyroidism and the Hashimoto's as well. I left so annoyed, especially waiting almost an hour and then being rushed out after 10-15 minutes of her time. Grrrrrrrrrrr! I'm so shot down right now. One thing she did increase my Cytomel, 5mcg in am and 5mcg in afternoon or evening.
I see Dr Arem is all for T3/T4 combo treatment and had to urge her in the past to allow me to give it a try, besides just the Synthroid which she now feels I do not need any more increase "according to the bloodtest update", sadly she is like all the others that strictly go with the "numbers" and not treat the patient and their symptoms, I'm tired of this.
I wish I had the courage to fly, I'd book an appt. with Dr Arem, but I had a few horrible flight experiences that had led me to just drive, and now I don't know if I'd want to drive or take Greyhound that many miles, I've driven up and down most of the east coast, and that is my limit for now.
Maybe a train? I've never really gone anyplace on one, just excursions on museum based steam engines. LOL!!
Oh well I'll see how the increase meds work after awhile.
She did say that maybe I should got to a doc for infectious disease or RA, in regards to the mysterious on and off low grade temps I've had for almost 2 yrs. I may even look into that, cause I'm so tired and now becoming depressed with feeling unwell for so long.
I'm rambling, I best get going to bed now.
Thanks for listening, I so much appreciate it. Do they hurt?

Please make an appt with an RA as soon as possible! I had no idea you hadn't been to one. You need a full spectrum of blood tests to see exactly what you do and don't have.

Let me know how it goes. Get a referral today if you can.

Hugs,

Jan

In a run of my GP's tests there was one that was about RA, it was within normal range, and I do not feel arthritic, does a person have achiness to warrant going?
It seems when the Synthroid was increased and my VitD and Calciums, any minor joint pain in hands and arms subsided.
I appreciate all or any info you have given me, it may be of help to others who read this, that may be going through the same or similar stuff.
Thanks so much, dear lady. Do they hurt?

PS I decided if I get anymore of those mysterious low grade temps, I am going to persue something with either RA or Infectious disease MD's or both. I'm hopeing with the thyroid meds increase, Synthroid and Cytomel, I get on track, I hope. I'm tired of being drained and have no ambition. I "got the notion, but I ain't got the motion".
LOL!! Do they hurt? Do they hurt?

I was checked awhile ago, so maybe it might not hurt to have these tests done again, it's be about 2yrs, I think.
I don't know the low grade temp thing, seems to have died back, and even my hot flashes are subsiding, body temp seems to be normalizing, and not my old pre-thyroid meds, ice cube feeling, so some balance seems to be coming my way.
Well, I'll have to wait and see, once I get mom's doc appts down, I'll book for my GP to run some tests.
Thanks for all your support. Do they hurt?
