For about two weeks now I've been feeling a bit nauseous most of the time after having a meal. In the past few days drinking can have the same affect, as can not eating at all, eg when I wake in the morning. It's usually 'flashes' of nausea, lasting a few minutes, and then otherwise I just feel vaguely unwell. I also have intermittent abdominal pains, which aren't really painful, more of a nuisance, and they don't seem to have any relation to the nausea. Sometimes the pain is under the bottom front left of my ribcage and at other times it's on the lower left of the abdomen. I also get a hot feeling too internally across my midriff above the navel. I'm thinking of giving it another couple of weeks before going to the dr, unless it gets a lot worse, in case it just gets better or whatever, but in the meantime I thought I'd post here, to see if anybody had any ideas on what it might be. Antacids don't make any difference.

(((((((((( Silver Bells )))))))))))))

I know you don't want to go to the Dr., but I think this time you should. I agree that it could be due to several things. I don't want you to let something get out of hand.

Hugs,

Jan

(((hugs))) Antacids create a bigger problem in that they reduce all stomach acid, and some of it we need. Try taking a sip of apple cider vinegar after you eat. If it helps solve the distress, then you don't have enough acid in your system... which is easy to result if you have been using antacids. Stomach problems (I think?)

There are tablet forms of digestive enzymes (you know these from high school) protease, amylase and.. and.. the other one Stomach problems (I think?) Stomach problems (I think?) anyway, try them, they are naturally found in the body so no matter what the problem is, they won't harm you.

(((((((((( EV ))))))))))) and ((((((((((( Jan )))))))))))

Thanks for answering Stomach problems (I think?) Going to give it a bit more time yet and try Sky's suggestions...

(((((((((( Sky )))))))))) Where do I find the apple cider vinegar? Do supermarkets sell it? And what about when I wake up at night feeling nauseous? (Not from the nausea, but for example I was woken early this morning when somebody sent me a text message before 4am and I felt nauseous on awaking) Would the vinegar stuff help then? And doesn't it taste disgusting?

I have that exact pain...and I have GERD(acid reflux). I also get nausea and stomach pain occasionally. I take prilosec....antacids like tums and malox do nothing for me. Now I get a lump feeling in my throat sometimes. I have to go get an ediscopy where they put a tube in your stomach and see if you have ulcers etc.
I would see your Dr. before it gets worse
Avoid caffiene, chocolate, fatty greasy foods, and don't lay down for at least three hours after you eat. Also eat smaller meals. Those are suggestions for GERD sufferers.
Good luck

I'm not sure if they have the Apple Cider Vinegar at Supermarkets, but I know they have it at Health Food stores, like The Good Earth, and other Health Food Stores that sell health food products. It does taste nasty, but you don't need to drink an entire glass, maybe a Tablespoon or 2 is enough! I got some for my Dad once to help with his Cellulitis, and mixed it with cranberry juice,so he could'nt taste it.
Stomach problems can be nasty,I'd take Sky's advice and go to the Dr.! I have stomach ulcers, and Reverse Parastalsis of the Esophagus, so I know how it is. No fun at all! I've had tons of Endoscopies, and had part of my Esophagus removed. So I'd go to the Doctor and not take any chances.

Thanks for your suggestions, lovetolaugh (nice name! Stomach problems (I think?) ) and Justice... It's been gone now for a couple of weeks, and things seem fine, and I haven't changed what I eat... maybe it was a stomach bug? It seems to have resolved itself for now anyway.
