Good luck Beth!

My sister-in-law had surgery and it was successful.

I have it in both hands too but opted not to have the surgery. Carpal Tunnel

I agree with Joe. I'm having nerve problems in my entire arm and it all comes from one's neck/spine. Fortunately I'm working with a good physical therapist and slowly getting better (I've had intense pain -- makes me get up at night for several hours as I can't sleep and can't "do" much during the day) since July 9. You might want to look into that; see if cold compresses on the neck, massage, electrical/sonic stimulation etc. help or even if accupuncture does (my little electrical stimulation machine they gave me works well at accupuncture points, especially the web between thumb and forefinger and the dimple on the outside of the little finger, halfway to the wrist). My nerves are firing randomly all over my arm, shoulder, hand, etc. and there's obvious swelling in my neck so it would be hard to find a single reason/place where there was a problem that could be operated on but I had a friend who had the carpal tunnel/hand surgery and it was unsuccessful, twice! Once one has the surgery though, it is hard to try "something else"? Kind of like bariatric surgery, you can't go back to diet and exercise and "normal" routes afterwards.

Yes, Perna is right.

Beth, they should tell you all this upfront that there are no guarantees with this. That's why I opted out but it has worked out well for my sister-in-law, so one never knows. Carpal Tunnel

I've seen many hand surgeons in my time due to the type of work that I did... but have opted out of surgery.. I tried alternative methods,, that worked for me - not as a cure.. but as relief and reduction in sypthoms.. this worked for many years...

Well I saw the surgeon today . He thinks my left hand is just as bad as my right. Probably because its compensating for my right hand.

So my surgery for my right hand is Sept 28th and for my left Oct 12th. Hopefully this will be the end of my medical problems for awhile.. I cant afford to have much more go wrong lol.

But then again... I got this eye/ cheek thing going on and also I am gettin dizzy when i turn my head or laugh too hard. I dont even wanna know.... Carpal Tunnel

I dont know Bebop. About 5 days ago it started hurting on the outside of my right eye then it goes down my cheek right along the bone. I cant blink, swallow a drink or food , chew or anything without it hurting . I am going to the doc tomorrow afternoon to get it checked out. The other thing is scaring me too. Cause I feel like I am gonna pass out if I laugh too hard or turn to look at something. Really weird stuff. So I am trying not to laugh alot. And you know that is hard for me not to do lol.

Well as most of you know , I had my surgery on Friday. I am up right now with a rash and fever on that arm. Its not on the hand itself. But right above my wrist. I suppose I'll be going the ambulatory care center tomorrow to get anitbiotics. We'll see. Never fails after a surgery I always get an infection. Cant figure that out. I hope you're feeling better and that the post surgery stuff is all gone. Let us know how you're doing when you can. And good luck Friday with the other one!

I think I've had an allergic reaction to the anesthetic. I had some hives/ rash last time too but not as bad as this. Also had a helluva headache with both.. but again worse this time. Taking an allergy pill for it and hope it helps some.

Yes, that is a bad reaction...and you really shouldn't try that type of med again, imo. I have allergic reactions to meds most of the time (over my whole life) so I really am a pro in knowing this stuff. I'm sorry you're learning about it too Carpal Tunnel

How quickly did the reaction occur? I think if it's within a short time, that the next med you try, you stay around for that length of time, or have a Plan B with the doctor ahead of time. We don't want you having majorly bad reactions that affect your breathing or heart, now do we???

Carpal Tunnel I hope the healing will be all you want and need it to be, as you are surely paying for the procedure. Carpal Tunnel

Sky it showed up about yesterday afternoon and surgery was early Friday morning. So it took awhile as did it for the last surgery. IT was about the same time. Except I had the headache almost about immediately after given the anesthetic shot. The last time it was just around my wrist a bit. This time as you can see it went up my arm. Its not too itchy.. just a little bit. Hopefully I wont ever need a local anesthetic again.lol..

Allergy pills are good, but why don't you try Hydrochortizone 1% right on the rash? Would you believe the cellulitis abcess is almost gone just by using the Hydro?? It's the truth! Carpal Tunnel
