The pain has spread to behind my knee. I should get it checked out I guess.

ChatGPT also gave me some suggestions.

I've been slipping on this excercise ball thing I have. I need to step over it and my foot can slip and I"ll lose my balance a bit.

I also recently started wearing Crocs a lot.

Crocs might not be shoes for you. I don’t find them comfortable.

That looks serious! It looks like you got bitten by a mosquito, chigger, or spider. I can't imagine wearing crocs or using a yoga ball would cause that.

What kind of pain is it?

If its bursitis, a sac around the joint which is filled with fluid gets inflamed and expands, because it got irritated in some way. It is often called housemaid's knee, which one would get from scrubbing floors on your hands and knees in the olden days before Swiffer! I got one on the back of my knee from this. Its very alien! Cold wrap helps.

Well, I had been looking only at the thumbnails, which showed darkness at and below the knee in the left image -- I didn't realize the images could be made full screen. (insert forehead smack here)

Anyway I don't see anything at all like an infection. I'm so sorry if I caused any alarm!

If the pain interferes with the usual activities, and if bursitis, a single steroid injection could clear it up.
