I am so frustrated I don’t even know which way is up! Seroquel has been a miracle cure for my anxiety. I haven’t felt this good in years! BUT, not only has it made me gain more weight, but it’s messing with a bunch of other things; I have a family history of heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure and all of that wonderful stuff. The Seroquel raised my triglycerides from 230 to 860 in a matter of weeks.
I had to have a bunch of blood work done for our insurances new wellness program. Most of it was within normal limits, but my glucose level was slightly higher than normal so my doctor ordered them all again. This time something else was high, so I had them done for a third time in as many weeks. The results from the third test revealed that my triglycerides went from 230 the first time to 860 now they’re testing my liver. I was privately sure that I had diabetes, I’m so thirsty all of the time, I dream about drinking ice water in my sleep, I drink water in my sleep and I can’t get enough. My fasting glucose level was around 120, but I’m always higher when I’m fasting, once I eat it goes right back down to 80ish. My blood pressure is up. The last time I was on medication for high blood pressure, for no reason known to man, my blood pressure would just dump. So I quit taking it. It took 6 months but my doctor talked me into trying a different medication, and last night, it dumped again! On the meds for 8 days and it dropped to nothing. My doctor is on vacation, and his nurse doesn’t believe me, said “if it was that low you’d be near death” I WAS. I was barely conscience, I was aware what was going on around me, but I couldn’t really do anything. Like I was looking down a long tunnel and I was very small. I prayed for the darkness to come because I felt so awful. My husband said that I was as white as a sheet. I could hear him yelling, but it was muffled, like I was sleeping. When this happened last time, my blood pressure was back to normal within an hour. Which means if I had gone with the ambulance, by the time I got to the hospital, I’d be fine; last night however I was feeling good after about an hour and a half but my blood pressure was only 65/38 so I could have gone to the hospital. I have issues with the ER. I had only ever gone to the ER when I was injured at work. I broke my finger and had no choice but to go. The only time I’ve ever gone for illness, they sent me home with antibiotics and vicodin, my white blood cell count was 23,000 (normal about 2,000). They told me I had a “raging infection somewhere” and documented only thrush on the ER report. My appendix exploded a few hours later. If the ER doc would have admitted me, I would have been in and out in a matter of hours, with a one inch incision, but since it exploded I have a six inch scar and had to be in the hospital several weeks. And to top it all off, the insurance was not going to pay for the ER visit because thrush is not a life threatening situation.

Sounds like the Seroquel is doing a number on you like Candybear.
I had to go into the hospital for a week on drip antibiotics with only a white cell count of 17,000 (after my appendix had already burst several months earlier) because the doctors took me off antibiotics too soon after my appendectomy and an infection wandered around my insides for 4-5 months as a result. Not a fun time. I hear you about the ER; the week before my doctor put me into the hospital I spent 14 hours in the ER one afternoon and it was their not helping the problem that made the white cell count go back up until my surgeon was frustrated and just admitted me to get to the bottom of the problem (still didn't, it was 3 months later when I found the problem and figured out how to solve it). I wish you luck AAAAA, and hope your doctor will be back soon and able to figure it all out better.
