Last week I developed this pain in my upper right abdomen that shoots up to just under my shoulder blade. I had my liver enzymes checked and did an ultrasound for gallstones, they all came back normal.

I've been diagnosed with psycho somatic pain relating to my stomach before but never to this part of my abdomen. I have no idea what it may be and the doctors are just as puzzled.

Does anyone have a similar experience or advice? Is this my mind or is this something real?

"diagnosed with psychosomatic pain relating to" your stomach? Isn't all pain that way, really? I mean, it's all a matter of the nerves telling your brain and your brain decides it's pain... Psycho-somatic or something real?

Stress. It sure could be stress. Muscle spasms from over (or under) use, or tightening due to stress.

Ok, I'm really irked by their dxing "psychosomatic pain." Psycho-somatic or something real? SOMETHING is causing the pain. I mean, even if it's stress, it's still something. We are so intertwined, mind/body/spirit that there is no dividing us up to "body" or "mind" or "spirit" you know?

However, I do hope they checked your appendix, and did an EKG since they were doing the other weird tests.

I went thru six month of suffering with pain that no one could locate the reason for and it was not until my OB/GYN talked to me that I realized I was going thru psychosomatic pain due to the stress of giving birth to a beautiful baby girl that was handicap, having 130 seizures a day and going to need 100% of care for the rest of her.... This doctor this "wonderful man" saved my life by letting me know that while there was no medical reason for my pain that my pains were real and I was not crazy - then he counseled my husband and I or FREE for several months until the stress lessened and I gradually returned to my normal happy care free self.
