I was just wondering.....

When i broke my leg end of last year i also had a partially black toenail. About 4,5 months later i could rip it of and hey... there's a new toenail underneath. I think it was pushing against my toe cus it hurted a bit.

Anyway fosters of the moment evt dragged me to the doctor cause it was infected and pus came out of it.
Doctor said, its ok toenail hasnt grown in or anything (by then it was not infected anymore but we had told them that it had been the week before). Also said no house, kitchen and garden cures no soaking in soda etc just weare shoes that are not to tight.

About 5 weeks ago i hurted it again but i'm not sure if it made it worse or not.. Either way its infected now for about 2 months maybe and every other day pus will come out of it again.

I dont really want to go to the doctor again about something silly like this... just wondering what to expect, anything i can do? It's becoming quite annoying and its sometimes inconvenient too like when i'm running, or have to wear shoes it makes my plaster or sock wet again..
Any ideas/experience?

Definitely see your dr., you aren't being silly at all, and they'd much rather see you now than wait til something possibly more serious develops. infected toe

while I doubt it's this severe, a very badly infected toe can lead to amputation of the infected digit. better safe then sorry, I'd suggest revisiting the doctor or getting a second opinion from a different doctor. infected toe

I would suggest these things for home care:

soak your foot (toe) at least daily in hot epsom salt water. (As hot as is safe for you.)
once you dry your foot, coat the toenail area with tea tree oil. (A natural antibiotic that works great!)
Wear clean socks, and change if they get damp. White is best. (Dyes in socks can irritate open areas.)

Good wishes!
