That's what I was diagnosed with. I have a red scaly (small, about the size of a toonie - $2 Canadian coin) patch on the side of my neck.
There's a LOT of different kinds listed on the internet though. ![]() So this is a question posed to everyone who's had (one) instance of exczema that was localized, didn't spread, and was caused by a probable allergic reaction... Once it's treated with meds (I have a prescribed topical cream) ... does it ever come back? Or only in the presence of the allergen? Note to self: Rats crawling on neck/shoulders (when I've had allergic reactions to their claw marks) is likely not a good idea with bare skin. At least I'm pretty sure that's the cause... nothing else new has touched the area within the past month, and my allergies (like to latex) would be a LOT more severe.

Yep, eczema comes back. For me it's in times of stress. I have two HUGE patches on the front of my legs that are just now clearing up. I won't tell you how long it's taken, but I didn't spend the money on the cream, either. (I do recommend doing that, though. It makes it go away a lot quicker.)
I'm not sure letting rats crawl on you would have anything to do with it. I think it's an autoimmune thing. |

What about "allergic contact dermatitis" or "irritant contact dermatitis"?
Has anyone had those kinda of exczema/eczema? http://www.skincarephysicians.com/ec...ermatitis.html I think that's what she was referring to... but apparently dermatitis and exczema are the same things? I don't know... I'm confused.

Dermatitis is a general term that describes an inflammation of the skin. There are different types of dermatitis, including seborrheic dermatitis and atopic dermatitis (eczema). Though the disorder can have many causes and occur in many forms, it usually involves swollen, reddened and itchy skin.

Well I have had excezma and so does my daughter. I had the revolving door on my elbows and knees for years. When I was about 12...never got another breakout until I was 22, then got some breakouts all over for years and now haven't had a break out in about five years. I don't have any connection to allergies however it's supposed to be prevelant with people who have auto immune issues as I do. My daughter has asthma and there is the same links there. She never had a break out until a year ago and have not been able to get it to clear up completely since. (she's 10)
