This is a nursery rhyme my grandpa used to sing to me.
See saw Marjorie Daw Who's there? Grandpa What do you want? A bottle of beer Where's your money? In my pocket Where's your pocket? In my pants Where's your pants? I left them home Get out of here You drunken bum! We were very close and I loved him so much. He did a lot with me like teaching me how to ride a bike. My sister recently told me something very upsetting about how our other grand father was inappropriate with her. If my wonderful grandpa would have known, he would have killed that SOB. This made me think of this twisted nursery rhyme I have no idea where he got these lyrics from. I googled "See saw Marjorie Daw" and got this: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/See_Saw_Margery_Daw

My grandmother recited normal nursery rhymes.
I don't know if this is strange but when we walked my Dad recited many cadences and fighting songs which I then recited on my own with my younger brother and sister. One of the most catchy for me was: Left Left (I would make sure my left foot hit the ground as I said it) Left my wife in New Orleans With 50 kids and a buckets of beans because I thought it was right right (it changes your steps because your stomping your right foot hard when you say right instead of the left one) Right for my country and right for me Whoop de do Whoop de do (then repeat it all over and over....) |

I'm glad you had your grandfather's love!
![]() I have spoken of my fondness for my father before and I realize that I copied him in many ways, both good and bad. Besides the obvious of graduating from the same university, joining ROTC (he was in Army ROTC, I was in Air Force ROTC); my relationship with my children has some similarities with my dad's relationship with his... When Dad was gone, I could drive my mom so crazy sometimes that she would chase me around the house and really whack me good sometimes.... When Dad was home, she would ask him to spank me--he would take me to my room, talk to me and when I said I was sorry he would say, "Since your sorry, I'm not going to spank you--Don't tell mom." And we had many other secrets. I'm afraid that I have never disciplined my children much either and we have secrets. This sometimes is upsetting for H. I have been trying to be much less secretive than I used to be. It's not fair to H that I have been this way but it really is something that I just naturally have done without reflection. Only recently did I understand that it has sometimes been unfair and counterproductive..... |

Even these nursery rhyme themes carried over into some of our personal issues to this day.
