Is there any way to see a doctor and a specialist if you are on SSDI/Medicare A and cannot pay $104 a month?

Let's say you don't even have access to $104 a month, not through credit cards, not by borrowing - no $104 month from anywhere. And let's say you don't want to end up with bills you cannot pay.

Are there any programs or free clinics that have specialists? Any program that will cover the cost of $104 payments until you can get approved for fee assistance?

I'm in Massachusetts.

If you want all the background information, it's here: http://forums.psychcentral.com/insur...cessfully.html

where I live, there is a low income clinic that has a sliding scale fee for people that cant afford it.

google and see if there is a family resource center in your area. they are good at helping yhou find resources such as this.

Massachusetts has a network of community action programs across the state that can help you locate resources in your area. I'd suggest giving them a call--they'll know the resources in your town/county better than folks here are likely to.
Thanks for this!

A lot of programs require that you do accept part B Medicare insurance when you are eligible. A program that helped me when I had no coverage of any kind made that real clear. Now I do have part B and the program that I was in now picks up the co-pays. Sounds like you were not made aware that's how it works. That's a tough spot you're now in.

One option might be to just go to anyone who'll treat you, and then just ignore the bill for as long as you can't pay it. Another is to go to an emergency room and then, again, ignore the bill.

I guess, by now, you understand that you're supposed to pay that $104, even if it takes a big chunk of your SSDI check. The reduction that makes in your disposable income can then make you eligible for other forms of help. Be sure and apply for all other subsidies that you might get - like fuel, telephone, Internet and food stamps. What you'll get from all of those might free up the $104 that you need.
