Hi All, been on SSDI since 2009 for Panic with Agorophobia. Since then, my new PDoc updated my diagnosis with Panic with Agorphobia, PTSD and Depression( Major) In March, I had a review but it was the long form CDR. I was successful and heard back within two weeks that I am still disabled and I am all set with my monthly payments.
My questions are, what would have triggered a Long Form review? Am I doing something wrong? I moved, going thru a divorce, applied for Medicare Part B. I see my P Doc all the time, fill my prescriptions all the time. Just wondering why the Long Form while so many other get the short form? I am in my 40's.... Also, since my new P Doc added two new conditions ( which I wish I didn't have), should my next review not be for awhile and just be the Short Form? The long form caused me a lot of anxiety as I am truly disabled. Please let me know your experiences. Thanks pnw1 |

I think they just picked you out of the bunch for the long form this time. It's a way of checking up on people that I'm not sure works well but they do it anyway. Next time will probably be short form again.

Thanks so much, it caused a lot of anxiety for me. Yes, it was my first review since being approved about 5 yrs ago. So, hopefully just the short form next time, whenever that is someday in the future........

I started SSDI in 2004 and had a review in 2012 or so. I think it was a long questionnaire, maybe 5-7 pages (multiple choice and comment section). Maybe it differs from area to area when reviews get sent out. I'm not sure how it works but I bet they use statistics for reviews. Govn't is big on using statisticians because it's a very reliable form of math (prediction, probability, etc.).

I feel like you were probably just chosen randomly by the computer a lot like they do for a lot of their income tax audits. A computer probably just spits out the forms already addressed and ready to mail. I wouldn't worry about it. I'm sure you didn't do anything wrong, however, I can understand your anxiety when you received it.

I don't know, but suspect that any change in a medical condition might trigger the long form if you reported that to SSDI prior to their sending out the long form. I know you just had additional conditions added, but the computer might just register the added conditions as a "change."
On the other hand, if you get the short form followed by a long form, there are certain answers that will trigger the long form next, so I've heard and read. Anyhow, glad you got approved. Anxiety can cause serious interference. |

Nothing was reported to SS till the review, from others postings, it was just luck of the draw. New condition where added after the review. So, thanks, but I am all set now.

If I may comment, I've found this helpful as it sheds light on SSDI's process. IMO, it's nice to know what to expect and to have a sense of what is random and what isn't.
