The SSA apparently decided they aren't going to pay me my February check until March 3rd. And then every month after that they are paying me on the 3rd. All because AHCCCS (Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System) decided they were going to start paying my Medicare premiums in January. Now I got paid the $104.90 for my Medicare premium for January and the $104.90 for my Medicare premium for February which equals $209.80 and I just received that recently. But I just got a letter saying that they are not paying me my February amount until March 3rd. And then every month after that I will get paid on the 3rd. Doesn't that mean that they are refusing to pay me my March payment that I am allowed? They are clearly breaking the law. What do I do? This can't be legal. And I have bills to pay.

That usually means you have Medicare instead of Medicaid. Here in Texas, ssi gets paid on the first and ssdi gets paid on the 3rd.

If a Medicare premium is being paid then it is SSDI and it is typical to be paid the first week of each month and on the 3rd of that month. It sounds like it is not starting until March, not February.

Well, the payments are retroactive. Like, if you get a check in february, its actually for the month of January; if you get a check in March, its for Feb, etc. In otherwords, its for the previous month. I'm surprised no one told any one of you that.

Think back to when you first started getting social security checks. Your first check came in the month after you accrued the benefit. Everyone gets their February check in March.
Now, anyone who is getting their part B premium paid for through their state's Medicaid (as I do, also) gets their social security check on the 3rd of the month. You should have received a letter telling you that. So your state reimbursed you for a couple of months that you paid that part B premium yourself. I got that too. But they didn't reimburse me for one of the months, which may be how it works. The state will pay the federal government on your behalf for that part B premium. So your social security check will start coming with nothing deducted out of it. |

No, not illegal. You misunderstand.
You aren't getting the payment until the next month because the payment date for this month has passed. (ie, if you miss the payment date of the 3rd, you have to wait until the 3rd of the next month) Its like this for ALL benefits. Next months benefits will be larger. At one point I got 4 months of benefits at once. That was nice... |

You must have been getting your payments sometime towards the middle of the month, or whenever. So, actually, when the govt switched your payment date to the 3rd, you actually got a check sooner than you normally would have. That's what happened to me.
