So, my OCD has gotten significantly worse lately, new things and old ones. What I'm going to describe is one of my oldest symptoms [though it's morphed a little over time], and the most difficult to handle in public. It's also odd and unusual and hard to describe, and I wanted to know if anyone can relate, or if anyone even gets what I'm trying to say. Okay. So I have a need for symmetry, especially on my body. Not so much visual stuff, but the feeling of symmetry. This applies most strongly to the bottoms of my feet, and to my hands. However, for some reason, my right side always feels like there's "more" on it, so I have to make up for that feeling of assymetry by doing everything on my left side. So this is how it presents itself: when I'm walking for example, I have to step on shadows, different ground textures, different ground colors, objects on the ground, etc with my left foot and my left foot only. If I step on this stuff with my right foot it's EXTREMELY uncomfortable [I feel like my right foot "absorbs" more of this stuff], so I end up walking around so ridiculously. I've tried putting stuff in my left shoe to try to help this feeling, but it doesn't work. It's impossible to hide. This also applies to my hands, even though I'm right handed I try to do everything with my left hand because the right hand just feels like it's too much. Also, I drive with my left foot now [which has taken some getting used to], and I have to watch the ground I'm driving on so I can move my right foot out of the way of variations in the ground. So to sum this up, I need to feel symmetry, but my brain tells me my right foot and hand have much more "stuff" [feeling?] on them, so I have to dance around and scrutinize the floor, drive with my left foot, and in general just do things very strangely. I want to know if anyone can understand what I'm describing, even if no one else has experienced things like this. I want to be able to explain this to people, since it's pretty impossible to hide.

I can understand. I am right-handed but feel compelled to use my left hand more for some odd reason like it has to prove its usefulness. I have OCD, also. I don't know how to tell you to explain it. I constantly look at the sky for balance. ( I know it is strange.) I am doing better with it since I found out my TMJ is back and it affects my ears and balance and I'm suppose to sleep with a mouth piece at night. Just wanted to let you know I understand.
