Hi

I went for an assessment last week and everything went fine despite me worrying. I was told I was being referred for CBT sessions but they said there would be about an eight week (or 3 month) waiting time.

So that is some good news. But the OCD still bothering me. The problem is, now that I have OCD, or know I have it, I am always focusing on it, like worrying about triggers and spikes and things like that and doubting very often. It's like my mind is stuck in a constant loop (with OCD or just thinking about it seemingly in my mind 24/7) and I feel like it's going to be this way forever and that CBT won't help with this aspect, I don't know though to be honest.

They also said that they would have to give me a pretty high dosage of anti-depressants for them to work effectively so they recommended against it so I'm not on any medication. I just hope the CBT begins soon.

Anyway, thanks for reading.

Best regards.

hey,
im sorry about the long wait - that really sucks!! it sounds like this OCD diagnosis has become another thing for you to obsess about - intrusive thoughts about it over and over.
my OCD symptoms started to lift within 4 sessions of CBT, so it definitely does work! i have had many more sessions now (depression is my primary diagnosis), but the OCD part is a lot more under control. i have to work at it, of course, but it doesnt interfere so much anymore.
all the best in the meantime .

I'm not obsessing about the diagnosis, I'm still obsessing about the original intrusive/worrying thoughts that started everything. I'm just saying that I still seem to be worrying/obsessing about these thoughts all of the time and it won't go away.

i'm sorry, i misunderstood. thanks for clarifying.
maybe you could read a few articles on OCD (there are some good one on PC) if you think that would be helpful. give you some strategies to break the cycle until you can find some stable help.
