I'm sorry you had such a dificult day
![]() It sounds like your anxiety was triggered by what you were talking about in literature. When we are so anxious, we breathe a lot more shallowly, and do not get as much oxygen to our brains. then it is more dificult to fight the OCD thoughts. My 1st tip is to BREATHE. take a breath through your nose, count to 3 slowly, and then release out your mouth. Do that over and over. Then, focus on the OCD thought. If you are in therapy, you may have already gone over the combating ?s- What is OCD telling you? What is the likelihood that what OCD is telling you will be true? What exactly is so fearful about what OCD is telling you? What will hapen if you do not obey OCD's orders? (will the sky fall down, will your brain start spinning, lol, you get what I mean? I say it jokingly of course...) I haven't caught in your previous posts if you have a therapist and are in therapy. But if you aren't, I highly suggest that you get one. Your posts make it appear that you are very disturbed by your OCD thoughts. A therapist can assist you in fighting OCD, and gaining your life back. Because it is not fair to have your life run by OCD. I was in that place, and it was not fun. I still continue to fight OCD every day, but not to the extreme that it was before I started therapy. Best of luck to you!

Hi - I would recommend that you learn as much as you can about how OCD works and find a therapist who practices Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. They should help you with evidence based strategies to overcome your fears.
When a thought is labelled by the brain as dangerous or harmful it is only natural for us to want to avoid association or suppress the thought or image - unfortunately this maintains the cycle. So it is important to label and accept your OCD thoughts as 'That's just an OCD thought' when they occur. Again a good CBT therapist will help. All the very best. |
