Ahhhhh! PC support group IRL PC support group IRL

There have been a few times that I've suggested some of us getting together and I SWEAR! Not ONE response! Even told the story of when some of us from a chat room decided to get together near San Francisco. We had people from all over the US come! It was no different walking into that room than it was logging into the chat room. Everyone ran and hugged those that were coming in. It was so shocking that some already new who I was and no one had seen a pic of me! This was before we put on a tag with our screen name on it, too! PC support group IRL I'll never forget that "party." I've never felt so loved and accepted as I did that evening and in the following days when some of the people "shuttled" me from one town to the next where my daughter could pick me up. PC support group IRL (happy sigh)

I can give some suggestions for any gathering of this sort, if anyone really goes through with it.

Ry, be careful! These gals are just vying for you, you know! LOL PC support group IRL

Is anyone in California??? PC support group IRL

When I was deciding on my divorce and probably going through (just 1 of) the roughest times of my life.

I met someone online. Through a support chat. She and I shared so much and she was such a support for me.

She offered for me to come stay with her out in new mexico.

Mind you i'm in NJ. And also I was still getting over the fact that I couldn't really drive all that far away b/c I would get too nervous.

I decided I was gonna buy a ticket and fly out there...lol.

My family definately thought this was my final crack up.

I flew to St. Louis. Took a connecting flight. Onto New Mexico.

Stayed with her and her family for 12 days. It was pretty amazing and worked out great.

So imagine the possibilities. Heck if I'm in the right frame of mind I just might even fly out further west.

PC support group IRL ... lol

Just a though. Since we all seem to be so far away from each other (and other issues), how would it be if we had a virtual reunion using an instant messaging client, netmeeting, a 3D client or even a webcam script installed on this site?. We could perhaps do that for starters and we would get to see and hear the people we were talking to in "real life". Web cam scripts - many are free and easy to install. I have a web cam and mic myself. Anyone else have a webcam and/or mic?. Maybe we could all plan to do this once a week or once a month or something. Just an idea. What dio you people think?

Tomi, people had better go through with it. I'd hate to get all these responses for nothing. Besides, the Detriot/Holly chapter already had 2 members. Meeting times and places TBA PC support group IRL I hope this works for some areas. I think it would be cool.

GG, that's a wicked idea. You should PM that to Doc John in case he doesn't see it. WAY COOL!!! I'm definately down with that.

No way could I do web cam. My messy house is too much of an embarrassment. There's nowhere to point it that clutter wouldn't be in the picture.

Ummm... it's still "virtual." There's nothing like a real live hug, a real live smile, etc.

But maybe for some, it would be easier...

I'd do it in a heartbeat. I was planning on going to Branson this summer just to go shopping and maybe meet Ozzie but due to the fact my car guzzles the gas and prices are getting outrageous I can't afford it.

Well Ry, I was trying to stay away from here for a few days to get myself together but you have managed to reel me back in with your brillance. Your suggestion is one of the best I have ever heard. I for one, would find the experience of meeting up with you guys absolutly wonderful. How great would that be? I'm excited just thinking about it. I picture as a semi-annual affair. A weekend long event to include different activities and one big PAR-TAY!!! LOL.

Anyone anywhere near MD?
i'd love to join a RL group ....anyone with DID? we've never met anyone with DID, that is, outside of a psych unit. Definately we are into it.

We should meet at the beach or some non-city place.
Have a campfire and marshmallows. i'll bring stuff for smores. we can bring tents and tell stories around a campfire. Make a fun weekend of it..

Assateaque Island? Cape Henlopen? oh pleeeeze!!!

kerria
yes, i want everyone to be in real life!!!!!

Unfortunately, it could be someone living a mile down the road and I still don't think I could work up the nerve to even leave the house. It's safer here anyway. I have found that making friends (I mean close friends) is not at all easy in this day and age (too many pervs, freaks. terrorism, trust issues, criminal types, scams, etc). If this were the "innocent 50's" it might not be so tough. Who knows.

My current friend/roommate, I have known for 25 years and once he "goes", I see myself being all alone in life. My family is pretty superficial so no help/companionship there. Maybe I'll run through the streets naked quoting cartoon characters so I can get myself committed if it ever reaches the point where I have no friends and I'm all alone in life.

It would be safe at a national campground. we don't have to share all our identities if we don't want to.. it would be fun.. i don't know everyone as much as mostly everyone else here does. GreyGoose i'm sorry that you wouldn't feel safe. i know what that's like.

under the stars is safe for me.

Well, a campground might be ok and I would'nt mind meeting any of the people here (I would actually look forward to it), I guess I just have "leaving the house" issues. I'm not sure what that's called (agoraphobia or something?).

GreyGoose.... I do understand your not leaving the house.. I have been there and that is what landed me into therapy..The original therapist had no idea what to do with me or what was going on, but I went to a group that was run by another T and she said it was panic attacks and PTSD... I still had to venture out of the house, but it took all of my energy to do so. I was a real basket case for several years....... I am doing better now, but I still have "bouts" when I cannot leave the house.....Guess it depends on the frame of mind I am in.. I dunno.. I just know, it is not a pretty place to be... I sure hope things get better for you.... I know there is a wonderful world out there to explore and this "whatever" it is that keeps one inside, sure does put a big damper on the potential to explore the world again....Anyway, I do hope that if Psych Central members do get together that you will be able to make it..... I am sure it would be tons of fun PC support group IRL

anyone from Washington state? It seems we all live too far from each other to make this a reality, but we could get together online, say a few times a year, in a special-made chat room just for us. A bunch of us bird-owners do that on AOL every once in awhile. But then again, with so many time differences, that might be difficult, too. Oh well, just a thought..............

Sounds like a great idea to me. I seem to be a little out of the way from everybody, though. Is anyone else on this board from the Dover, New Hampshire area?
