Ok. This week, so far has not been a good week, and I'll skip the why for Monday and Tuesday.

Today, I got up at 5:45am so I can be at the office before 7am, where my boss would pick me up. I skipped my meds so I could be semi-awake.

When we got to the conference place, it took them a while to find my name tag. Then while setting up the laptop and equipment, we realized we didn't have a pointer, so I went out and begged for one from one of the staff. A few minutes later, I went out begging for a box to hold business cards in.

A staff member came into our room to tell us the 'rules' and the timing issues. I didn't have to give the presentation (thank God), but somehow, they appointed me to be time keeper. I told my boss what I would do when half time arrive, 10 and 5 minutes left.

I stood in the back of the room the whole time. Another colleague of mine came and stood at one side of the double doors and I stood at the otherside. My side of the room had a table with water, so I tried to stay as close to the door so people can get to the table. At the same time, the door on my side had to be the door that was open/close for people to come in/out.

Boss was giving the presentation and suddenly, I realized he was talking about and to me. He said that I was the time keeper, and that I should look up and behind me. Turned out that I was standing just under the fire alarm handle.

Half time came and I waved my arms. I also waved my arms to tell boss to talk faster. I had to really exaggerate cuz it was pretty far from the front to the back of the room, and he wasn't always looking at me. I felt like a fool since there were people (late comers) were standing next to me.

When the presentation was over, my colleague, and another colleague who came late, and I were handing out take-home sheets. I also had a box for people to put their business cards in. I only had 2 hands, so while one hand was holding the paper, with the box on top of the stack, my other hand was giving out the info sheet. The box suddenly slipped and fell face down, and the business cards (other people's) went flying. People were waiting for me to get my box back so they could put in their bus. cards.

When the seminar was over, we went to see some exhibits. Lunch was suppose to be served there too. We stuck around, and finally lunch time. One of my colleagues (boss had to leave for a meeting) and I lined up to get some food. He had some roast beef in a bun just before lunch there cuz an exhibitor deals with bbq's, and was serving roast beef. I have a jaw problem that prevents me from eating large sandwiches, such as buns. My mouth wont open wide enough and my jaw locks up.

I was starving. By the time I got to the front of the line, I found out they ran out of food. We left to find a place to eat. Now because of me, we ended up having to pay for a lunch that could've been free.

It was a long trek back to my co-worker's car, and since we had to go somewhere before going back to the office, we had to walk really fast. Unfortunately, I started to get breathless and had to slow down before I really got in trouble with my asthma.

By the time we got back to the office, it was later than we had planned, and I found out that someone set off the alarm. He came into the office before we got back because he was told we would be there earlier than we actually did. He wasn't happy. Of course I heard it from him and from my boss' wife who picked up the call from the alarm people.

Since I've been on my feet pretty much all day long, in my 'nice' shoes,I have a couple of blisters on my toes.

Found more ants. This time they gathered on the floor at my desk. I have a phobia with insects - anything that crawls and flies. I don't discriminate.

Ok. I'll stop now. I've babbled enough. Sorry. Just wanted to say what my day's been like.

Well, SS, at least it's all behind you. Whew, huh?

I tend to be with Dodger on this -- it may not be as bad on the outside as it feels on the inside. Conferences are chaotic anyway, and there's no reason for you to feel guilty about your jaw. (I used to have that problem but many years wearing a corrective device has mostly straightened it out. Praise be to God.)

Take care of yourself, you poor thing, with whatever will bring you comfort.

Thanks ((((((((jan)))))). Guess I didn't do too bad. Some people do remember the things that happened, or that has been said. One of my callers today said, 'Remember, I said you'll be getting a lot of calls.'? Embarassing moments at the Conference

SS,

You got through it and it is behind you now! Hurrah!

I'm confused about the person calling saying you'd get a lot of calls? Isn't that a good thing? Aren't they calling about whatever the presentation was on?

sorry if I'm too confused to adequately participate here. Embarassing moments at the Conference

Very glad that you got through the day. Well done SS!! Embarassing moments at the Conference It is amazing what we can handle when we least expect we can.

In a way, it's a good thing, but since there's only me doing all this stuff - taking calls, sending out info, plus all other projects and what-not - just too much, and my memory's not the greatest. I get things mixed up. Ppl will catch on that I'm incompetent. Embarassing moments at the Conference

A couple of days after the conference, I asked my boss to send me the latest version of the presentation, because new info was added on the day of the seminar. He sent it to me, and I've forwarded it to a whole bunch of people who attened the seminar. It wasn't until yesterday that I realized my boss sent me the original version that had mistakes in them, such as the wrong phone number. I should have checked the presentation before sending it out.

The emails have my name on it, so people will know how incompetent I was. Sending out a correction notice, in my view, will only point out my mistake in neon. Now I have a huge job of contacting the people making sure they got the email. I guess I'll have to admit what a stupid, incompetent I am. Embarassing moments at the Conference

We talked about this yesterday in chat. I'm sorry you're still worrying about it. I really hope that it doesn't turn out as badly as you expect. It's human to error. Anyone who doesn't understand that you made a genuine mistake doesn't deserve your time, in my opinion Embarassing moments at the Conference ...

SS8282...of course its human to err. Please don't consider yourself "incompentent" just because of a human error. It will all work out..you'll see.
Take care of yourself........Dodger
