i'm probably imagining things but for some reason it feels to me u blame the europeans...

not at all.......you see, Europe is the only place where horsemeat is still consumed on dinnertables. i have no quarrel with that practice....it's a custom and i am not bashing the people....i'm terribly concerned with our government allowing the horses to be captured and slaughtered. granted, if there wasn't a market for the meat, they wouldn't be slaughtered here. i want the horses to be able to live as they have for years and years.......free. pat

I'd want them free too... I just get a little stirred up when people say "europeans" meaning some particular parts of europe ..see finland is part of europe too (like a little mouse yelling "I matter!" ) and we don't eat like straight up horsemeat... I of course don't eat any.. but there's wurst with horsemeat, the horse in those however is finnish domestic animals that have been slaughtered for one reason or another.. (one of the main reasons i don't eat it.. would be like eating your pets) ..anyway.. If there was anything i could do to help wild horses in america, i'd do it

Yep, we never ever eat horsemeat in the UK. It's just not even thought of - most ppl wouldn't even consider it, it sounds awful. I think it's Eastern Europe that eats horsemeat - not sure of that though. Whereever it's eaten, it's still barbaric to slaughter American wild horses for the trade, and it should be stopped.

We don't eat horse meat in Ireland either. But I agree it is horrible and it would be like eating one of my pets.

i did some research and the slaughterhouse, in the U.S., is owned by a Belgian. so that must be where the meat is going. plus, i have a french friend in Montreal and he grew up on it..they still sell it in Montreal. he thinks i'm crazy!!

I've already weighed in on this topic months ago.. but wondering how upset ppl are about Icelanders eating Lamb's testicles.... sounds like the lamb gotta die for that too.

how do you feel about American's eating "calf fries"? the practice may be repulsive to us, but the animal is not killed just for the testicles. it has been slaughtered for food and the testicles are harvested for eating. it's a standard practice in all of the ranching states. i'm surprised you didn't mention that.

In ways I agree wanttoheal... but there's a limit on what I can get for healthy food.... and I've been eating far too little protein!

It's what is custom I guess. There are many many different opinions around the world. I think, for me, the issue IS how it's done... and how is anything that is necessary like that done "humanely?"

well, I am very glad I am a vegetarian. Lamb's testicles could be done with out slaughter of the animal but lets face it, ram lambs get eaten. Nope, no meat, little dairy, only eggs and milk products from where I know the animals are treated well.

I'm not vegetarian. But I only eat cow's and pig's meat. And chicken of course (and only finnish meat naturally, don't want no BSE).... Well anyway, this is because all of them are raised for food. They wouldn't exist here if people didn't eat them. I don't eat anything hunted, or any baby animals, no reindeer (cuz i consider them wolf's food) no sheep (meant for wool) and no turkey either (cuz they are ugly and taste bad ). And definitely no horse. Somewhere in asia they eat dogs too
