I don't think Miss A was "dissing" your avatar. I think she was referring to the PC stock avatars and wanting the option to customize them.

I agree with Pat, Shirley, and Kimmy I had a poem in creative that someone changed the subject title thankfully Cat changed it back to the original title this IMO is disrespectful and sort of high-jacking in my eyes

Hi folks... Just a reminder, this is a thread for suggestions for changes to the forums!

I'm going to close this thread on Friday, so if you have any remaining suggestions, please post them or PM them to me by then. I'll go through the suggestions one-by-one and each one will be considered. I'll post followups on my progress as well....

Thank you! Suggestions for Change

How about if people started using the spell check feature? I was going to suggest one, but then realized that there already IS a spell checker that you can click before you send your post!

Yeah, I think so, LD, I didn't take it as "your" avatar, I thik she meant "you" as a general term.
So often internet communications, can lead to misunderstandings or misinterpretation.
I like your dragon avatar Suggestions for Change

Doc
I dont post a lot and tend to come to chat only when I have time or need to be "somewhere". However I do read many of the posts and personally I feel this is one of the safer sites that I am or have been a member of. I have experianced the all out flamouts and the cyberstalkers. I think there is always room for improvement but so far in my many years of experiance.......This place is the best

Doesn't have to be a forum but there should be a little place on this site, where members here can post their own quotes to help others understand it. It could be on top of the bar next to home all the way to surrported forums next to the (new) quotes.
What you think?

I'd like to reiterate the suggestion for a teen forum. The more I think about it, the more appropriate it is. Or else an age limit -- some of the topics here might not be appropriate for young teens.

I just want to say that by no means do I intend it as an insult, but as someone pointed out earlier, their needs are very, very different from that of adults. And many adults here have been through some life experiences that I'm not sure I'd want my child reading about, yet it kind of creates an eggshell-y situation for the adults if they have to worry about what they write. I just wanted to clarify because I don't want our teenage members feeling hurt about this suggestion.

I also, lastly, would like to add that I have more free time on my hands now than I usually do, so if DocJohn needs any help organizing or implementing/testing the changes, I am available and willing to help.

I'd like it if people would refrain from changing the subject line. Sometimes it takes some long, hard thinking to come up with an appropriate subject line, and then to have someone come in after 1 or 2 posts and change it, it kind of smacks of threadjacking to me, especially when it's turned into something that doesn't even resemble what the original post is regarding. It's not such a big deal if you're entering the thread from the individual forum list, because the original title is what you see, but if you're coming in from the newest reply in the Main Index, sometimes you have no clue what topic you're going into.

</div></font></blockquote><font class="post">

Thank you so much for writing this! See, I myself did not know what was the norm here, I'd seen subject lines changed, so sometimes did it myself, but also had noticed that it just made things more confusing. So glad that you stated this, thank you.

I don't bother with spell check. I like to just type like I would talk to people. And when I talk to people, my grammar isn't the best. I like not to have to worry about my spelling. =)

it's okay if it's not perfect... it's just that sometimes, some people's posts are really hard to read because the words don't make sense. If you know you're a really bad speller, then it's kind of a courtesy to those who are reading your posts if you use the spell check. Typos aren't a big deal.

Ok here it goes...
1) I dont feel its a good thing to tell someone to leave if they dont like something here. Its not a help to them emotionally or mentally to progress with feeling safe here. I for one have issues with rejection. Its very triggering to me. And for me being told that is like being rejected.

2) I would like to see a fair playing field here for all members. Everone treated equally and like humans. With kindness, consideration , and yes even humor if its appropriate for the situation .

3) I would like to see forums for non-religious/ religious posts, maybe political too and a teen forum I think would be nice too .

4) I would like and explanation when a post gets deleted, locked, moved. And maybe see if it would be considered to let the poster edit the part that conflicts with the guidelines. Maybe give the poster a chance to change or delete it. Some of us feel like we are treated like kids being scolded in front of our friends when a mod does it . Maybe thru a pm the mod could make a suggestion as to what else could be said or expressed that would be with in the guidlines. That way the poster is left feeling like they have some dignity and integrity left? And they know that they also have the ability to think it thru another way and make it right themselves. Wouldnt this be a good thing for building ocnfidence? Just a thought.

Thanks for doing this Doc. I hope lots of these suggestions can be used. This was truely a good thing to do .

Beth

The Teen forum sounds kul but I wouldn't see myself using it at all even though I'm in the caterory of a teenager. Just that it's a bit like a kitten wouldn't go out side alone of its own, more likes to stay indoors but a cat would rather go out side then stay indoors. Hmm I dunno where I'm going with this... If there is a teen forum would the RULES apply the same to these ones?

Also I don't find words to be triggering mostly the actions of someone. Like if you said a word and meant it then I will feel heart broken. Most of all I have heard worse in my youth life time, just knowing that you can't trust everyone? Got to go to school and catch my bus proberly I miss it again! See ya....
