WE don't have to create news... the media does that nowdays. I wonder how it is that we gave them so much power? Why do we let them get away with this, instead of just reporting, without hype, what is happening? I like BBC international, and London, because it's just the facts (I hope.)

CBC here in Canada is pretty good, too. The morning show called "The Current" is usually excellent. It's on CBC Radio 1.

Hi Pat,
I agree. Unfurtunately to paraphrase today's Non Sequitor comic strip: There will be no real News because corporate interests have bought up all the media and they don't want us to know what's happening in the world except via their spin. That also increasingly is true of public broad cast, and has been true of Radio for some time, with the exception of the pirate stations(some progress may be taking place with small independents, time will tell if new laws will be written by the people or corporations). At present the internet seems to be the last best hope for real News. Thanks for the posting on this subject about the forces of major manipulation and influences in our lives. ~Down ![]() ![]() |

i get most, if not all, of my news on the internet. the credible news, that is. i also read two or three blogs a week. i'm appalled at how the major networks cater to big business. Bill Moyers made the most wonderful speech recently. he mentioned that he's afraid that PBS and NPR are on their way out, as in the way they have been in the past. plus there will be cutbacks on some good programming.....long, long sigh

IMO it would be a shame to lose public broadcasting. This country needs to hear the unbiased left opinions. No really, I like the music programming especially. Also, I like channels like Discovery. Even so, documentaries about nature and such can be slanted too.
