thought some of us could us this...

</font><blockquote><div id="quote"><font class="small">Quote:</font>
Our lives improve only when we take chances- and the first and most difficult risk we can take is to be honest with ourselves. Walter Anderson

most of my life has been made up of taking chances. i am fully committed to that, as a way of life.......when i think of some of the things that i've experienced, i wouldn't have it any other way. pushing the edge of the envelope is like breathing to me. i don't care about looking good, at my funeral, i intend to go sliding into the grave, with a bottle of champagne in one hand and a bowl of strawberries in the other, calling, woooooooooooooooooohooooooooooooooooo. pat Here i go again

Thinking about the quote....I think our lives improve when we take chances, but it depends on what chances we take....some can make our lives worse....it seems to me that what we have to consider first is what the end result we want first before we can determine if the chance we take is good or bad. Being honest with ourselves is also questionable....when we are in a bad place &amp; think we are being honest with ourselves in a bad way....we can really take a bad chance thinking that what will be accomplished is what we want at the time. I think this quote can be turned around to support our thinking when we are in a bad place...

I really hate thinking negatively but can see how I could turn it all around to support my thinking in whatever state I am in. I think it is important for us to be in a positive mode of thinking for this quote to really work as I think it is intented. Being in my positive thinking state at the moment, yes...it is a risk to be honest with myself &amp; try to decide what chances I need to take to improve my life....those chances are about the changes that I need to make that will take the positive farther &amp; farther until it becomes my way of life....knowing that there will be problems along the way but if they are handled in the same way, they will end up being positive too.

IMHO, this quote needs a little care with it to ensure that it is taken the way it is intended. Maybe I am thinking too way out in seeing the other way of looking at it in the negative way...knowing that that is not the way it is intended.

I agree that this quote is a great one to get people to think about themselves...Thank you for providing it.

I didn't mean this quote to be taken negatively. I surely didnt mean to offend anyone if i did.

I know for my self that I have been thinking of making some changes about me. I know in order for them to work, that I have to be honest with my self. I have to want to change these things, for me not any one else. If I do not honestly want to change them, then it wont work... does that make sense to anyone?

so please if i offeneed anyone with this, I apologize.

Oh yeah and Pat, That is the way to go........ sliding in sideways saying what a life i had!!!!! lol

saying that i take a lot of chances, dosn't mean that i don't think about it first...most of the time, i think about it for a very long time. i took the chance to work for Willie Nelson....he was totally unheard of then....by stepping out there, i made a friend for life, heard music, and met people that i consider to be beyond the pale in creativity and got to leave my abusive husband, because i made enough $ to do so.......being honest about it is a given.

to be honest with yourself- is that like "to thine own self be true"? Then it would mean positive, negative, what-have-you...I just want to not be fooling myself: let the chips of my strange damaged psyche fall where they may and learn to love the warring parts.

and I agree- change is hard, but good

There's always a price to pay, isn't there? Sometimes it's worth the price and sometimes it's not. Sometimes, you know it's gonna fall on the + side or on the - side and sometimes it doesn't matter, just so you have the experience. LOL
