My realtor called yesterday. The settlement has been moved from August 8th to August 1st. WOW. Now I have about 2 weeks to pack all my stuff and my head is spinning. This definitly adds to my stress. Breathing slowly. Good thoughts, good thoughts, good thoughts.

Wow that does shorten your time some!

Suggestions about packing, don't read if you already know how ! LOL Ok, now I've moved more than I wish to admit.... gather all the supplies you can at once, then when you need something, it's right there, and way you go... boxes of all types and sizes, black markers to label them, packing tape and dispenser, scissors, shredded paper or bubblewrap, newsprint/newspaper, acid free tissue paper, FRAGILE labels etc. Make sure you mark each box as to what ROOM it came from (or what room you want it to GO to when moved) I hesistate to put what's in the box, as it makes it too obvious for movers or onlookers, you know? I used color dots because the last 2 moves, not all the movers could read lol. sigh. Remember you can put small things in small boxes and pack the smaller boxes into the larger ones to help handle them. Mark boxes on at least 2 adjoining sides, 3 or all if you have time. Figure out a plan... do you wish to pack a whole room at a time, or do you want to grab all the "wall hangings' first then all the nick knacks,, etc. The more you can stand in one place, pulling boxes, assembling, marking, filling, taping the faster you get it done. Pack things tightly... any movement makes it more likely something will break, and also makes it harder to handle (if weight shifts inside it.)

Sigh. I will keep you in mind... moving is so stressful... but it isn't a forever event, and relief comes when it's all over! You can do this, I know you can! (((hugs)))) B r e a t h e good thoughts is GREAT thinking lol

Thank you. Great advice Sky. I have already started on my bedroom closet, drawers etc. The kids rooms are in the works as well. Hubby last day of work is tomorrow night so I will have his help after that which will help a whole lot.

In addition, my new home that is being built will not be done until August 23rd. The builder is trying to get a hole of the Site manager to see if they can complete it sooner but I wont hear back until Friday. This means That I will being paying for a storage facility and a hotel for at least two weeks or so when I arrive. Man.....

My MIL and MIL's boyfriend have both taken vacation that week so they can ride with us and help with the driving, kids and moving. I love them. They are such a big help.

Okay, this may be a highjack, sorry if it is. I have been feeling like I need to simplify. I have been sorting and getting rid of a lot of stuff. Maybe now is the time to think about what you really want and need and ship the rest to goodwill? Come do my basement.

LOL WW. This is a great idea and have actually thought of having a moving sale so that we can unload all this stuff before we go. Anything we cant unload will be going to either the good will or the Womens Abuse Shelter as they were there for me when I needed them. If I can give back to them in anyway, it would be my pleasure.

A neighbor moved in a few weeks ago, a man, a single man and he has very little furniture. We asked him to come by and take a look to see if he could use anything. We have extra couches, love seat, tables, chairs....a bunch of stuff.

HEAD SPINNING.

gee, having to put stuff in storage WITH children (no silly, I know the children don't go into storage lol) that makes it even more difficult... they need their clothes and stuff like ALL of it NOW lol let them choose what doesn't go into storage, huh? That' great that you will have help moving... so the more info put on the boxes, the better for you in the long run. BTW when you pack the storage room? Well, try to get an inside one in the a/c with inside halls ...cameras... and one near the door... you might be able to line it up with a nationwide place ... anyway, when you pack the room (if you can do this and remember to do it..) Pack junky stuff closest to the door... linens, stuffed toys, clothes... because should it happen to be broken into, time is of the essence to thieves and they hate to have to drag everything out to get to the good stuff, ya know? Gee you are going to be SO tired! lol plan ahead for that too! TC

Thank you, all of you.

I managed to get alot done last night. Both full upper bathrooms and the rest of my stuff in my room. Tonight I will do more in the kids rooms and take all the pictures down and stuff. My MIL works at a grocery store so she has saved tons of boxes for us. Hubby picked them up this morning. Hubbys last day of work is tonight. It will be a real treat to have him home for a while.

I will keep you guys posted.

Luv,

jen

Moving is stressful and it wears you out.

You've received some great packing tips. You have already made a great start getting it done. You are helping your neighbors and giving to charity. (Oh, I need some furniture! - lol!) You have great tips for how to store your things once you get to TX. You have the help and support of family and all of us here in doing it. You can do this!!! I know you can!!!!

Sending lots of energy and many, many hugs your way!

You go Woman!

Jan

Thanks you guys!!

I just put some loads of laundry in so things are clean and tidy for when we arrive. The living room is filled to the brim with boxes. Now that hubby will be home we will be able to knock this out pretty quickly.

Hi Guys! Slight Change in Plans

Pat: I am leaving VA on August 2 or 3. I should arrive in San Antonio roughly 3 days after that. The new house will not be comepleted (still building) until the 15th or 20th. Hubby, Kids, Gracie and I will be staying in a hotel until the house is done. Slight Change in Plans

I am leaving most of the big stuff to hubby to take care of. I am just kinda following his lead.

Next Sunday I am having a farwell cookout with all my family, hubbys family and a few friends. My sister is coming from Philadelphia so I am excited about that. It will be hard to say goodbye. Havent really wanted to face that head on yet. Slight Change in Plans
