I just got off the phone with my doctors (GP) office to see if they will lift the pay at time of service thingy on my account now that the fiscal year has rolled over for my state. I have medicaid which I guess in their minds makes me less of a person. I have to pay at least $75 every time I have to go to the doctor which makes it hard because if he prescribes any medicine there is a huge chance I can't pick it up because I can't afford it. The doctor I go to works for a nonprofit organization that is supposed to help out the poor. I'm not sure what their definition of poor is because I think I qualify big time. I set up a payment plan because they didn't tell me that if medicaid denies a claim that they can file for an extension of benefits but only for 90 days after. So because of that I owe them about $700. You'd think that the insurance department would just automatically file for the extension because at my Pdoc's office they do that and my pdoc is at a huge clinic. I guess I'm just mad because I have a migraine and would love to go to the doctor to get some samples or a lobotomy but can't afford to do so.

(((buggy))) Just a thought, something I've had happen to me... the doctor's office never submitted the insurance request, because they had me pay "in case" and of course, to have me pay made them more money than if they asked the insurance company... sigh. It's a tough way to go... and you rarely can get the payment printouts... call your insurance company directly... claim agent, adjuster whomever it is.. make sure the doctor's office has even ASKED for approval. ok? $75 seems high to me to begin with, as a co-pay! Medicaid is a program that is in place for those with low or no income, heck some appts don't even cost $75.00 Sorry but this sounds too weird to me.....
I am sorry about the migraine.. what about the emergency room? mine is covered completly.... Again I don't understand how their is such a difference in our programs.......... Take care and I really hope your migraine is gone by the time you read this... Linda

Oh Jannie, I'm so sorry. I hope you get your bills sorted out and that you can get your medicine.

Gentle hugs,
