I read article recently which talked about evolution "errors" in humans... well, basically, the progress was too fast and our genetics layout did not have the time to get accustomed to that... hence the "civilization illnesses".

I also read (a long time ago), that today read and hear the same amount of information through one day as our ancestors did in many years... Surely, this is very demanding to our brains... our living environment is changing very fast and we have to adapt... while remembering our credit card PIN codes and passwords and phone numbers may see as insignificant... it still takes a large proportion of our memory, I think... and we live in very very fast pace. And somehow we are pressured to conform the norms, live fast and be "productive"... We are overwhelmed by the information we recieve on the daily basic... there is not much time to slow down. No wonder our brains sometimes show the 404 error.

I don't want to expand too much on life span, because that might be too triggering to some... but the longer lifespan may not always be such a great thing (...)

I admit, I am a total city girl though... I HATE the countryside (I can tolerate is as a destination during vacation, given than in day I will be in a "civilization" again. when you take away my Internet, I feel like missing a hand... well, both arms, both legs and significant part of brain. But that might be just a kind of addiction and disconnection from my real nature.

i am too... i lived in the countryside once - big mistake. i thrive on the energy and sounds of people going about their days. i'm ok without internet and such, just dislike the lack of hustle and bustle.

idk if our world is so much "worse" though... yep, tons of information, etc and fast paced, but then again, i prefer that to having to hunt or gather my food myself every day and for the bulk of the world we don't have to worry about being eaten by predators, etc. We don't have to know every berry and leaf that is edible and we don't have to memorize a lot of things we once would have had to do. We aren't plagued by the same diseases and pests either.

as far as "gaps" or errors in evolution... who can really say? it's speculation at best because our entire existence as a species has been but a blip on the radar of time on this planet. As STephen Hawking said, there is no evidence that intelligence is an evolutionary advantage.

Arrrrgh

I was a city girl when I was young, but as I've matured I have gone further and further away from the city and now live in a rural seaside village. Very happy about it too. My partner and I went to the city a short time ago and I kissed the front door when we got home.

The human brain though, I believe is capable of many many more times the information it processes. I think that it is a matter of using the brain like a computer and sensible storing of files and information. I can remember my phone numbers, disability number (social sec num), medicare number, health insurance number, bank account numbers and all passwords to emails and every forum or group I belong to (I live on the net). Yet I can't remember what I did 10 minutes ago, or I can't remember a word that I've written a million times...

Whatever it is I hope sicence gets along with sorting the human brain out...I think those corners it has may be too sharp in some of the bends

Now I know why I have slowed down. Waiting for the genetics to catch up.

I think a lot of it is about choice and now we have a whole lot more choices (so some get frozen from too much choice, like a deer in the headlights). I don't need 57 varieties of ketchup or laundry detergent but I can ignore that and go for my "usual" brand. I moved around a lot growing up so I can do city or country but mostly just like staying "here" for awhile.

Sorry guys, I 'm country through and through, but love adventure (not drama). I've taught on wall street, san francisco and atlanta brokerages. Each person I meet reminds me of something new yet old. So either I've met this DNA/RNA prior or I'm that traveling alien. My alien indoctrination has been a swift almost time warped experience happening slowly. So I'm either slow enough to catch up or just picking my way back somewhere?
