depending on what they actually are some things are just called floaters and dont mean anything, other times they are things in the blood vessels that you can see and should have checked out because could cause serious issues(blood clots etc) later but only a doctor and opthamologist will be able to give you the proper advise.

When I am "cycling" I get hallucinations which apear out of the tails of my eyes. When I look, they disappear, although they might be very detailed in my periphery. Most likely, you are geting "floaters" which are adnormalities in the fluid in your eyes. That can mean lots of things, and since you haven't really described what you are seeing, I can't tell you which you are seeing.
Hugggsssss, and whatever they are, tell a doctor if you are worried. That is my chant.

Hmm are they colorful, or grays and blacks? "Floaters" are bits of the vitreous gel in your eye that have broken off. This can be due to old age, but often it's from head trauma.

I had severe head trauma in '86 and thus am closely watched by a neuro opthalmologist because if any floater begins to attach itself to the retina, I could go blind in that eye. This phenomena, I am told, is quite painful though. But I have my neuro's phone number in case it occurs at any time.

My floaters have been so bad that I have to pull off to the side of the road when driving. It doesn't do any good to shake your head to make them move (that's kind of like spinning a raw egg... physics.)

Please do have this checked out to see if they are floaters, and if they are enough to be concerned about. Good wishes.

I have floaters and have had them for years.

My Optician said we all have them just some people's are more prominent than others.

I was diagnosised with Cateracts a few years ago and that was that. Said a part fo the cateract had broken off. But then I went back a few months later and was told it was just a general floater and that its normal

My opticians said....

If it becomes bigger, darker or comes down in a sheet then go to hospital ASAP.

So I guess what I am saying is ask your Opticians or Doctor

I'd say go to your eye dr. or regular dr. if you don't have an eye Dr., seeing dark spots can be an early sign of retinal detachment which you don't want to fool around with.

Sounds like floaters and we all have them even as children but they get worse as JD mentioned when we age. I had some of the gel break off a few months ago and it looked like a dark worm like thing in my vision and I also had flashes when I looked to the side - it scared the heck out of me. I'm relieved the dark worm like thing got better. I thought I had a detached retina but I was lucky it was just some of the gel that broke away.
