I was having such a good day today.... and yesterday was a good day too. Oh, how quickly things can fall apart. My friggin car got repo'ed today. I only owe $300 on it, and I called them and told them that I'd be there to pay it off next Friday. The lady I talked to said that would be fine. They just came and got my car a few minutes ago!!!!!!!!! Why the hell would they do that?!?!?!? I mean my payment was late, but I called and made arrangements to pay it. But they came and got it anyway! I am SOOOOOO ANGRY right now. What am I supposed to do about this????!?!

That had to be frustrating. What happened? Did you see the car was missing, or did you watch them tow it away?
Do they give you the car back when you take them the money? If someone told you it was all right but it wasn't there must have been a communication problem. Just hearing about it is a downer.
Can you do something nice for yourself to make the day end better? Rant at me if you want. I'd do more if I could,.

Not only is this event physically impeding, but it feels like an attack on who you really are, a victimization! I understand. Repo guys are not the kindest people you meet in this world. In the early 70s we had a newish car... did fine on payments till spouse lost job... I went to work again and we were only 2 weeks late on a payment, with NO history of late payments etc... and they came and repo'd the car AT CHURCH! We had to go to family for a full loan, as they would not allow anything but full payment to return the car! I won't ever finance through GMAC for this reason.

It happens... don't beat yourself up about it, you need all your energy to get through this bad experience in one piece! Take care of YOU, ok???

As I think about this further, perhaps you can call the "lady" and make sure the repo is taken off your record and all that stuff, getting the car back or you might HAVE to contact the State's attorney to notify them of this event. It sounds like an old method of unscrupulous business people making a fast buck on the backs of struggling folks... your tipping them that you will pay them off might have triggered them to scoop up the car to make the grounds that you didn't pay for it fully, agreed contract, so they can keep it and resell it for more than the $300 you owe. See my point? Threaten to turn them in to the FTC (federal trade commission) also... this can put them OUT of business. They might decide it's not worth it to cheat you out of your car. Make sure ALL record and fees, charges for towing are withdrawn, if you can.. a repo can harm your credit for years.

Wow, that really bites. You showed responsibility by making arrangements. Maybe somehow their lines were crossed. Have you tried calling again and asking what happened?
I hope this all turns out alright for you,Jen.

LOL Jax! Thanks! You all are so good to me... Why ME again!!!!!!!! GRRRRR!!! But let me tell you what happened. I called them yesterday, and I asked why they picked up my car. I talked to someone else this time. I told them about the lady I talked to before, and how she told me that if I paid next Friday that it would be ok. He said she must have misunderstood what I was asking for, because she's not allowed to put off my payment like that. Oh, man, I got MAD then. So, basically she just lied to me. Now they want the money owed on the car plus a fee of $327 before I can get my car back! That's insane. So, now I have to come up with $627 before I can get my car back. I'll have to do it somehow.. geez.

With all the money you've put into the car up to this point it may be worth it.
It amazes me the incompetence in some of these businesses. Maybe the lady was new and didn't know any better or maybe this guy is just being a jackass 'cause he wants that fee money. Hmmm? Yep,yep.
Well, in either case-I hope you can come up with that money soon without getting a loanshark or the police involved. Why ME again!!!!!!!! GRRRRR!!! Good luck, Jen!!!!

Of course it's worth it! Price a new car! oh my! Please contact officials about this, or have you suggested to THEM that you will? You need to, this is a common tactic of such type of businesses, preying upon the unassuming and poor. Please take care!

((((((((((Sky)))))))) Thanks soooooo much for telling me to contact the authorities about this. IT WORKED!!!!! WOO HOO!! I still can't get the car back until Friday, but I don't have to pay that $327 fee anymore!! I told them that I was going to contact the authorities about the whole thing, and the manager there at the car dealership said, "Now wait a minute, maybe we can work something out!" LOL!! So now all I have to pay is the original $300 that I owed anyway! I'll have to go without a car for a few more days, but heck I'm happy!! I talked to the dealership about this yesterday, and the manager there called me back today from his own house! I think I mighta ruffled their feathers a bit! haha Why ME again!!!!!!!! GRRRRR!!!
