Can anyone answer that?

This was an eye-opener.... for a family member to a tee. I printed this off and it shook her too. I'm not so sure what will come of it but I will be looking further into it so as not to enable her. Wow. Still shaking my head.
Thanks for the question and for the article. |

I've learned that the difference between being supportive and codependent is being able to set boundaries. It's not always an easy thing to do, but it is necessary for all involved.

yes thank you. I really want to learn more about co-dependency because I think i have some of the characteristics. I definitely think there is a difference between co-dependency and support though. Co-dependency is a condition that is unhealthy...i don't fully understand it but I think co-dependents try to help someone with a problem, but really they are just helping the person with the problem stay in their situation.
Being supportive, you don't try to mask the person from their problem. you want them to understand their problem, but you are there to support them in their recovery. talk about it, etc. |

I think i definitely confuse pity with love sometimes and that is probably bad because it could lead to dysfunctional relationships with others.
