I've mentioned that my job stopped sending me work at home because the boss wants a letter from my doc saying it is OK for me to work at home before he sends anything more. (He doesn't know exactly what is wrong with me but is not questioning that I am ill, this sounds just like something to cover him legally and I have no problem with that.)
At the time I didn't pursue it because I was having such a hard time anyway that I didn't want to commit to working more at home and not be able to keep up. I have kept him updated on my progress. And they know I am a program at a hospital that I attend during the week. Yesterday he emailed me and said they were having trouble with a particular job, and would like to send it to me, but still would need to hear from the doctor before sending it. That made me feel good, I know they still want me back there when I am feeling better... But I didn't go to the program today, I'm not scheduled there again until tomorrow. So I sent my boss a return email last night saying I thought it would be no problem to get a not from the doc, but that I wouldn't be seeing him (today) but I would try to get him something on Friday when I was at the hospital again. So at the end of the day today I get an email from him saying: "Soooooo????" and right below it is the quote from my email saying "I'll have it Friday". Why can't bosses read before they get ticked off and respond??? Today isn't Friday dammit!!! I don't know if I should just wait for the doctor tomorrow or send something to him tonight to confirm that I am not just blowing him off. It will be very hard for me to write something to him tonight that is not sarcastic, and I certainly don't want to make things worse. Maybe he'll realize his mistake and be patient until tomorrow. ARGH!!!

I would just leave it be until you can get the note -or not- and then respond. We are adults and shouldn't have to keep track for everyone else. Plus, if you SHOW the boss what a dufuss he showed himself to be (by not taking time to read and think) it might work against you. By ignoring his email, this will allow him to avoid the confrontation of you putting him "right." ya think? You already did your part, nothing further is required for now. Go play some online games and forget the boss for a night!

I know what you mean. I've sent my boss emails, and he asked me where it is. My advice is to email him back saying you'll get the note (or get back to him) on Friday. That's it. No sarcasm, you're not leaving him hanging, and it's real short and easy to write. In a way, the ball is now back in his court.
